or even www.WakinAMovie.com - or wherever it says to go in the other topic area headed - 'Help make the first wakeboard movie happen'. This is the best bit of comedy Ive seen in a while. If it works I am start one called 'Support your Sport - Buy me a Boat' and see what I get.

I was and still am behind this movie because I think it can represent wakeboarding well and it would be fun to see it in the theaters. However I'm not comfortable with this latest method of soliciting funds, so I'm asking them to remove our name and logos from the website. We've also removed the article that refers to the website. That probably means I'm no longer associated with the movie, but I just couldn't let this go and sleep at night. It would be one thing if they were giving the money back if the $1 million goal wasn't obtained, but I can't get behind a collection of money with no accountability.

I should have come to that conclusion before I posted the article, but I didn't really give it that much thought at the time. Definitely my bad.

think the idea of a wakemovie is awesome, but i assume movie making is an investment/risk. so they shouldn't be asking people to take that investment/risk for them, makes no sense when they'll reap the profit for everyones hard earned cash.

my suggestions would be to organise events to raise the money, maybe some companies would give some equipment for raffles or something at competitions etc. low key stuff but i recon you could make a lot from it, and people are still getting a bit for their money.

anywayz just a thought, if the people read this?

Please note that Justin Stephens/Album Films are no longer involved in the making of "In the Wake of Identity". We have respectfully backed out because of how the financing of the film is being handled.

Album Films strives to keep wakeboarding progressing through film. Right now this movie is not keeping in line with our goals as a company.

Thanks to everyone for your support and stay tuned, we have some good things in the works!

The're already laughing at the 12,500 dollars they will be able to pocket when they don't reach a million!

No lead, cannot name investors, no tax accountability on donations.... If one had a suspicious mind, one might think that "Preparing to ship out" may actually mean "take the money and run."
Get "all of the pro wakeboarders" to film a video clip of their specific endorsement of this project, and minds may change.

I wouldn't doubt that they may have started at a number other than zero to start things off. Who would be the FIRST to donate? I can only hope anyway.}

There are a lot of Indie films being made out there right now and it appears to me that there is investment money available to those producers who have a good story to tell and the knowledge/tools to get the film made. But it is investment $ and the people providing it expect a return. I visit those discussion boards too and I don't believe I've ever seen any Indie film makers look for basically a contribution in the manner these guys are or for that manner in that amount. I don't know if it's a scam or not but my initial impression is why should (or would) the public contribute to this project? We make our investment when we buy a ticket or buy the DVD.

I think it's a good move (to break your association with these guys), Dave.

After seeing his first 10 posts earlier this year (all the rest were asking for money), I have decided that Monroe is not all that familiar with wakeboarding, and that he is not a contributor, but someone who is looking to expliot a flavor of the day action sport. I'd rather see Switch22 a million times before watching a hollywood c feature made by someone who doesn't have a clue.

Good choice on your move to withdraw from this Dave,

If this script is sooo good and they are flying, then raising another mill should be easy for them without begging for money as a contribution leaving us with the business risk and them with a whole lot of money in the pocket to do what they please.

As said before, if you want to support them, wait for the movie to come out and go and see it. But I am shuddering at how it is going to come out and how tacky it may be.

Chris:

It would be tough but I'll give it a try! I like the concept though since all the good bridges and swampland have already been sold!

That's quite a resume! Given that I'd say he should have the connections to get the film made. I'll support it and go buy a ticket when and if it's released. Or he can sell it to Disney or HBO and we can watch it there. Ever see "Motocrossed"?

I agree there has to be better ways for them to make money for the film. Being in the financial industry you would be better off just throwing away your money than giving it away to a cause that states over and over how you are just making a donation to reach their goal of 1 million dollars. That is just silly.

Good job on pulling out of the deal David!
