allright...last week my steering cable went out, I've got the new one and am told it's pretty simple to switch out.

Anyone done this before and able to give me some pointers? It's on an older Sport Nautique. Apparently it's pretty simple, disconnect at both ends, tie a rope tothe back end and pul the old one out. Attach the rope to the new cable and pull the new one in. The grooved end of the cable feeds into the steering wheel assembly and you're pretty much done.

sound about right?
thanks

sounds about right.

Make sure the bend at the helm is smooth or it will steer hard.

that's about it.

just to be sure, take a good look at the steering end to make sure there are no probs when the new one is in. the bracket for mine was too low, and the cable rubbed back & forth on a brace in the hull, which caused the rubber seal to roll off all the time. water getting in the end resulted in an early death for my original cable. raising the bracket a bit was an easy fix, but would've sucked if overlooked.
