I have heard rumors of huts Hidden in the back country of mountains. Like at ski resorts in the woods? Has any one else heard of these?

They have them all over Tahoe. Not at the resorts, but in the backcountry. Basically they are little cabins with woodstoves and cots. Pretty cool.

For Colorado try www.huts.org They are pretty cool. Some are quite a hike but worth it.

Yup they are put up by the forest service and are pretty legit in Tahoe. The trick is cleaning up after yourself, I have been to a few that were tagged up and destroyed. The ones in the back country of Whistler put the ones here in Tahoe to shame though.
