what year is your boat? it didn't come with factory ballasts or are you just adding extra?

its an 02... It came integrated front ballast but not rears

Isaac, I have the same exact boat with front ballast but not rear. I use three sacks (1 front & 1 in ea. locker) but manually fill. Out of interest, how did you plumb the rear ballast? Did you drill a new hole or use the existing raw water intake?
Old     (extremeisaac)      Join Date: Aug 2005       09-24-2009, 10:53 AM Reply
Andy, drilled a new hole.. the idea of doing the ballast is alot harder than it actually is..

so the 1" water inlet sits on the port side of the V-drive unit. If you take off your back seat, and lift up the wodden V drive cover on the port side, I have a 1" mushroom inlet to a 1" ball valve to a 1" to 3"4 Tee, then right off each T I have a 45 degree bends and the pumps attached to each.. then just wire it up...

I also bought (4) 3/4" Through hull fittings drilled 4 holes and attached hoses and hose clamps... it was really easy.. it was more mentally challenging than anything...

I love my boat.. I cant imagine being any happier with any other boat.. the wake is mackin, its REALLY roomy inside.. we had 13 people inside a few weeks ago (4 were kids) but still... its got great power, no rattles/shakes... really easy to plumb the ballast...

OH dude.. Kyle.. your local in livermore.. if you wanna meet me up at Oroville I can help you plumb in your sacs.. will take a few hours.. its really simple

Isaac,

When you have time, will you send me a pic of your pump set-up near the v-drive? Do you empty with reversable pumps through the same thru-hull? Over-flows out the top of the freeboard near the gunnels?
Old     (extremeisaac)      Join Date: Aug 2005       09-24-2009, 11:22 AM Reply
Ill take some pics this weekend.. it was dark and my camera phone wouldnt take the shots you would need to see..

I dont have reversible pumps for the rears, I bought 4 Attwood Tsunami Aerators. 1. they are alot cheaper, and faster to fill and empty

I have a pump directly into each sac on the bottom openings that empty out the top of the freeboards.. there is also a vent line that goes right next to it..

Thanks!

and I didnt want to use the raw water intake because I dont want to mess with any heating issues with my motor.. and it wasnt a big deal to drill a 1" hole.. the hardest part was to find a spot where I can fit 2 pumps and still be under the waterline, and not lift any of the floor.. I thought for sure it was going to be somewhere on the starboard side.. but the only spot was on the port side.. it actually fits perfect in there..

I bought everything with the exception of the 45 degree elbows and Tee fitting from wakemakers.com

$$ wise it wasnt that much

maybe 250 for everything (minus sacs)

Thanks for the offer isaac i just gotta get some more money first i have been using my friends sacks for the longest time

With 350's in the back I'd think you will want to add at least another 500 in the nose. That boat is all about bow weight. Fill 'er up!!
Old     (extremeisaac)      Join Date: Aug 2005       09-24-2009, 12:24 PM Reply
I dont like exposed bags in a boat unless im riding with the boys.. when im with the family sacs all over the place makes it hard for the kids to get to and from the bow etc.. boat sits really low the way it is with just the front bang full.. wake is plenty big for me and my kids on a family day of riding out on the water.. I cant stress how much I cant stand it when theres bags laying all over the place...

BTW I have 100lbs of lead under the front seats with another 100 on the way.. that will do it for now

Isaac,

In addition to the factory center ballast, I put a 350 lb sac in the walkway between seats in the bow an fill it until I can' sort of squeezed in there and isn't in the way. Almost makes the bow a "pit" like other boats that have a fill-in there. Don't have any pics of this but I'll get some this weekend when we're out. And the best part... everything you've heard about weight in the bow is correct!!

I have no doubts that the boat likes weight in the front.. I just refuse to have sacs laying around everywhere..Im not that "core" and neither is my family.. I like the wake my boat has now and all the room that goes along with it.. 700 in the rear, 600 in the front.. and room for 13

I don't know, I've seen your little man. That kid is more core than half the wakeboard community. I know I'm afraid of him! Maybe give it some time but that little shredder is going to hound you to bury that boat!

nice job issac. glad to hear you're enjoying the new boat.

Nice job Issac!
You really don't have to have "sacs lying around everywhere" to get a little more bow weight though.
I have 10 pop bags, @ 40# ea, 2 under each of the three bow cushions, 2 way forward under the observer seat, and 2 more up under the driver footwell.
400 lbs. is like having a couple big guys sitting up front, ...without blocking the view

I have an extra (9) 55 lb lead bricks I can sell cheap. I use (8) bricks scattered in addition to my launch pads. Glad your happy with your new boat.

13 in a 210 man can you say packed like sardines? I had a max of 6 people on mine. even then it was 2 to many. not much room to move in that boat.

Boat loves weight up front. I used to run 2 350 stacked on each other plus some lead in the bow.

my girl used to just ride with the front sacs full none in the back, makes for a clean begginner friendly wake.

you have to be core your friends with the cie cats. CIE = core hahaha

Fremont area. Make a reasonable offer and you can have as many as you want.

I really dont know the going rate for lead.. Fremont is close and can pick it up sat am? how big are the bricks? I would want 4 bricks.

Nick, 13 was not that crowded.. it was tight but everyone was having fun and as long as everyone is good friends its all goood.. kids in the bow, adults in the back.. I actually told my wife we could have put another adult or 2 in the back

as long as it works for you man thats what its all about. different stokes. Even with a vlx now i onl like 6-8 peeps.

some lead in the front is all good man. I have 800 lbs we store up front all of the time. It helps boat get on plane faster and ride better evening when your not pulling someone

jtw for he right price ill take the rest of that on your hands. what ever issac doesnt take

The bricks are approx. 3.5"x3.5" x 12". I can give you 10 bricks for $200. Approx. 55 lbs each

I'm pullin tanks today, got most of my measurement/calcs the other nite with Sparky, just gotta getem out,and place my order.
He says my front sack is about as big as I can go,so I gotta put some lead up there in the nose.

Don't those sacs on the bow cushions just destroy the foam and stitching in your vinyl in the long run?
Old     (extremeisaac)      Join Date: Aug 2005       10-09-2009, 10:12 AM Reply
so... Walt.. how much water do you take in over the bow?? and dont tell me none..hehehehe...

Ive heard lots of great things about your wake..I wouldnt mind setting up my boat like that when Im out with the boys.. but family time means people are hanging in the bow and kids love to ride up there so sacing the bow out is out of the question..

heres 700 in the nose and 700 in the rear with about 4 adults in the boat...

To clarify, in that picture set up, do you have any in the lockers?

You would think so but they always bounce back. The stitching is fine too and it's a 2000. The foam kind of sucked back then too. I've been running it like that since I've owned it (I'm the 2nd owner) Maybe it will at some point but it's been fine so far.

Not much but it's easy to do if your not paying attention. I did take some last weekend when the lake got big suddenly.

Only pop sacks and lead. I think I'm running around 900-#1000 in hard weight.

I know Isaac, I own the same boat but there is no way it reaches 400 lbs in that size compartment, probablt closer to 300. Nice install by the way. Check all the plug in connections on the PP module and make sure they're all snapped in completely.
Old     (extremeisaac)      Join Date: Aug 2005       10-11-2009, 10:26 AM Reply
Sparky, I double checked all the connections on the brain but still all I get is a backlight and no display.. I tapped into the ignition power for the power but that just might be a bad power source??... I have an AUX toggle on my dash, I think im going to tap the power to that and see what happens? I think the iginition might be after the relay possisbly?
Old     (rvh3)      Join Date: Jul 2003       10-11-2009, 10:43 AM Reply
Isaac,
PP has a specific troubleshooting item for exactly that problem. Go to Perfectpass.com, support, then troubleshooting.
Old     (extremeisaac)      Join Date: Aug 2005       10-11-2009, 11:21 AM Reply
It says that possible bad ground source.. but ground on a boat is pretty easy.. I tapped into the ground of both the stereo and one of the guages and that wasnt the problem.. the other thing it said was possible bad 12v... but if im tapping into the ignition?? maybe its after the relay and its not getting a true 12v?
Old     (liquidmx)      Join Date: Jun 2005       10-11-2009, 11:59 AM Reply
Isaac, I had trouble with grounding in my Bu when I first got it. Perfect pass was giving me issues as well. I ended up running a fairly thick ground wire from the battery to the grounding terminal under the dash. This gave me peace of mind that the grounds were now really good. I also checked my wiring for the ignition and made those connections as clean as possible. I think I even ran a second power line to the ignition source to make sure I wasnt going to have any issues. I have not had a problem since (knocking on wood).
