I'm looking for suggestions on a decent video editing software that isn't too expensive. I've never edited a video in my life but I'm very familiar with Photoshop using it for the digital photography world. I'm not wanting to do anything crazy...cut, maybe add some transitions, music, etc. so I don't need the top of the line program.

This will be to edit mini-DV tapes from the Panasonic I bought from the hated Abe's of Maine! I got the shipping notification today so I can't wait to go home and see if it's broken, not the camera I ordered, or contains a receipt for double what I thought I agreed to pay.

I was in Best Buy and asked the same question. She recomended Pinnacle. Check their website, it looks pretty good. I think it's around $100 depending on which level you get.

beware of pinnacle, its pretty glitchy.

i'll second windows movie maker, not bad for a beginner.

then like joe said, move onto elements.

Thanks for the replies. Maybe I'll try out Windows Movie Maker since it is free and then maybe look at upgrading to Premiere once I get more comfortable with editing.
