Hey Steve-
I just bought 200lbs of lead at a tire shop in modesto for $50. I think I could have gotten it cheaper if I had looked around. But, you know how impatient I am. The lead is all scrap pieces for ballancing tires and came in a few plastic buckets. I am debating if I should just throw it into duffle bags or melt it down. I took it back to the shop and took a torch to it, and found that it melts very easy.

Used 50lb lead bars $0.50/lb at my local metal surplus (Alco Metals), should be cheaper in AZ then the San Francisco area?

I can't help you with the lead but these bags work great to put it in.

1$ per pound?!?!?! I picked up 600 lbs of lead last week and paid 11$ for it. I got about 150 lbs for free. A few tires shops gave it to me for free, they almost sounded like they would pay ME to pick it up. Call around. No one uses lead much anymore so you can get it for dirt cheap, dont let anyone convince you otherwise.

I am going to take it out tomorrow. I have the 2 350s, the 600 and 200 in lead. I'll take a pic for you and post it. Have you hooked up with anyone yet from AZ?

There is a shop called Capital Metals on 48th& Broadway just off the 143. They have lead bars, not exactly sure of price, I've bought some metal for as cheap as 30 cents a pound. Possibly worth a call

My cousin uses an old tie up bumper filled with lead buckshot for an anchor in his fishing boat. I thought it would work good for ballast in my boat. Not sure of the price, but materials are easy to get. Any hunting or sporting goods store that does reloading will have lead shot and old tie up bumpers are easy to find. Don't know if this has been gone over before but thought it may help.
