I agree. 21' 6" is not 21ft in my mind, it doesn't meet lake length requirements of 21ft. Total mislabeling in my opinion. Nice boat, but can't get it on my lake either..

Dave I don't know if your being serious or your just trying to troll for some drama. But check out the wake world slow down thread. People are pretty tired of where this thread is probably going to end up in some sort of Boat war.

ASR, lol. Oh Tige, now you have people thinking you are the original ones....

On a more serious note, I saw that N3 posted the msrp starts at 109k. Seriously? A 21' tow boat starts at 109k? I mean I love Nautiques (trade my X1 for a 210 in a heartbeat), but that is ridiculous. If they can sell them at that price, good for them I guess. I am curious to see at what point these boat companies price themselves out of existence. Don't think it can happen? Look what happened to the go-fast boat industry once that fad faded...

I'm really surprised it took them this long to get this thing out . I hate to admit it but I'm a total Nautique fanboy !! Grew up riding behind a friends 210 and just think they are like that snobby guy at the country club that you want to hate but you would let him buy you drinks all night if he offered. I'm sure this things going to do well for them already a ton of hype behind the 23 and this might be more in line with some peoples price points. I'm not that old but the last couple years have been really fun seeing these boat brands continue to go head to head in all of the size markets another cool boat that hopefully I will get to ride behind this spring !

Beautiful boat & awesome looking wake...I just can't get over how tall the side walls are on this and the G23. I'm 6'2" and I think I'd feel like a little kid siting in that thing when I try to put my arm over the side. The economy is definitely back though if these are moving out of the showroom starting at $109k!

Agreed. The boat seems amazing, but 99.9% of the people with the money to buy this bad boy aren't buying it to solely wakeboard, and if they are and have that kinda cash, they'll go G23

X-25 is pretty close with similar options. MXZ prob easily $20k cheaper but it isn't even in the same category nor is the x25 for that matter. But both of them can fit in a 8ft garage!!!!
Old     (polarbill)      Join Date: Jun 2003       11-16-2013, 11:40 AM Reply
I think I like the proportions of that one better than the 23 or 25. It is crazy that a 21' boat is over 100k but I guess it isn't really a 21' boat, it is a 21.5' boat. A huge 21.5' boat at that. What boats can you really compare to it?

The new SC? the X25? What do those 2 boats go for?

I think it is crazy that in the last 10 years a 21-22' wakeboarding boat has gone from 30-50k to 60-110k. I know they have gotten bigger/heavier and have some new features but my god it is crazy. I personally think the new "budget" boats are crazy overpriced. How is 60k budget?
Old     (wakedaveup)      Join Date: May 2012       11-16-2013, 12:00 PM Reply
An X25 with similar options would be very comparable in price. I'm pretty sure I've seen quite a few X25 owners on here that love the boat and prob paid a 6 figure price tag. With that in mind, I don't see selling G21's a problem especially considering they come with 1,850lbs more ballast than the X25 stock and an available surf system. That said, I'm not knocking the X25, simply saying that 6 figure price tag on a 21ft boat already existed before the release of the G21 so it's not as crazy as some may think. I don't mean to offend anyone either, but I would "guess" that if you can fork out the cash for any 6 figure boat, than a standard garage wouldn't be your only option for storing it.

Some of it is inflation too. 60k in today's dollars is about 47k in 2003 dollars. We have seen a lot of inflation over the last few years; that said the cost of boats has went above and beyond just inflation...some is in the extra toys and the rest is lining pockets.

These things will sell. Not only do they appear to perform amazingly, but G series boats are going to be status symbols. I know the 23 seems like a lot more boat, but $10-15k is still $10-15k. By the time it's all said and done, it's going to be a bigger difference than that, as you'll have to ad sales tax. Then there are the other issues, like having a tow vehicle big enough for the 23, and for those of us that keep them on lifts, having a lift with enough capacity.

I wonder that they still use stereo head in box instead to add this into the main display unit. Is it problem for today and especially as for this price of boat?
Old     (ralph)      Join Date: Apr 2002       11-17-2013, 9:55 AM Reply
What I don't really understand is why they wouldn't make a G21 actually 21ft long to meet some lake restrictions and fit under 8ft to meet some garage restrictions? Seems like it has no advantage over the 23 other than some change. Surely if you are in this market 10k isn't a deal breaker?

Other than that seems to tick all the wake boat boxes. Apart from being beautiful, but has a certain beauty I guess just not in the classical sense.

Aren't most 21' wakeboats over 21'? My VLX is a 21' boat that's actually 21'6". My understanding is that rounding is common when classifying a boat. Most 20' boats aren't exactly 20' either. I'm not sure why so many people are complaining about the G21. I'm pretty sure it's common and nothing new for a boat that's classified as 21' to be a few inches over 21'.

That said I wonder what size of garage door and depth of garage you would need to store this thing inside.

I know a lot of you are waiting for my opinion on this thing so I'll give it:

*please note my opinions are my own and in no way reflect those of wakeworld or it's subsidiaries*

The G21 is the definitely the top boat in the 21' category now. Tige has done a great job with this boat. I'm curious if Tige will discontinue the RZ2 now that it has released another boat in the category. With the G21, Tige has now definitely entered the "Big Three."

A well-earned Kudos to Tige and its engineers on this one...

Austin, your VLX is a 21'6" boat and doesn't claim to be anything else. By the name G21 one would assume it is a 21' boat but it is actually 21'6".

Point being if you use numbers in your boat model names that would indicate length then they should match. like the G21 not making a lot of sense(should be the G215) the X25 doesn't make a whole lot of sense, since it is a 21'6" boat.

Brett, I agree 100%. Apart from the X star, all the names of MC's boats just do not make sense, x's for pickle fork and traditional bows, the numbers have nothing to do with anything except that the bigger the number the bigger the boat... usually. And don't even get me started on the Xstar, x2, x1 debacle.

21' seems to be the magic number on private lakes. Some are 22' and some I have heard are 20'. Some go off stated length on the boat registration and lakes like mine are measured. So it is a big deal that a "21" is not actually 21.

With that said, the boat is sick and looks really good on the water. This boat could fit on our lake I think, so I hope to ride it next summer.

X25 shouldn't be selling in the six-figure range, but some people do overpay for their boats.

Dan, no disrespect intended, but according to this dealers 2014 MSRP price sheet on boattrader, the X25 has an MSRP of $124,000 so unless they are discounting them almost $25,000, it's safe to say that new X25's are more expensive than a G21. Again, not bashing MC, just stating the facts in regards to pricing. To each his own, but the G21 appears to be one of the most legit 21ft boats on the market. Not too many 21's out there with a reputable hull and factory 2850lbs of ballast out of the box without filling your storage compartments with bags.

Come on, no one pays MSRP for a boat. I would bet anyone with decent negotiation skills could get that boat for around the 100k mark.

And that X-25 is fully optioned out, not base. The G21's "base" msrp price is 109, but loaded the msrp is going to be higher.

And MXZ's, Supra SA's and Tige Z3's all have "MSRP's" over that 100k mark, but that is not what everyone is paying out the door.
Old     (wakedaveup)      Join Date: May 2012       11-18-2013, 8:20 AM Reply
Hence the reason I said "unless they discount them $25,000" which even in that case it's still a 6 figure boat and confirms my original point.... That 21ft boats have been selling for 100k for a few years now.

Eric, not sure where you get your numbers, but the base price of the X25 is listed on the link I posted and it's about 10k over what you're claiming. People are getting a little defensive here as well so let me clarify my statements. I'm not saying the X25 is overpriced, I'm not saying MC is a bad company/boat, I'm simply saying the two boats are very comparable in price and that it's very safe to assume that quite a few people would be in the 6 figure range even after a sale price on an X25. That's it. You claim 85k MSRP and a dealers 2014 MSRP sheet posted online claims differently. Cleary our info comes from different means, but I'm not making this up as it's clear it was posted by an MC dealer.
Old     (501s)      Join Date: Feb 2010       11-18-2013, 10:58 AM Reply
Base MSRP and fully loaded MSRP are very different. That X25 posted above has ZFT4, Pro Package and Surf Package. I can't tell what Motor is in it but I doubt it's the 5.7 at that price. That is a fully loaded boat.

And all of the Big3 are going to move 20k+ off the MSRP. But it's not till you get serious about actually buying one and work with a dealer that you can determine an accurate out the door price.

$85k "base" and $109k "base" are $25k apart.

Ok well then here you go, here's a 2013 (1 year older) with the 5.7 (clearly listed in the add) and base shows 92k before an option is added (closer to 130k with options and the base 5.7LT). I am also mathematically enlightened. I know the difference between your 85 and the G's 109 is 25k but unfortunately that's not what I was talking about. I was referring to the 2014 X25 that showed 95k as the "base" (which was "before" options, not after) and that represents a 10k difference between what you claim MSRP is (85k) and what a dealer is posted online (95k). I think you're comparing your 2012 pricing or MSRP to a 2014 which is clearly different. I'm not saying I'm a "know it all" or I'm absolutely right, but the boats are incredibly close in price and that is the only point I'm trying to make. I also have a decent knowledge of MC pricing, I did sell their boats for 2 years.

The boat looks great, very excited to ride one and see if the 210 lip is there compared to the g23. Surf wave looks real nice (pulled pic from PN). Just no way I'd ever be in the market for a new one. g23 all the way if I'm dropping 100k+

I'm not saying I'm a "know it all" or I'm absolutely right, but the boats are incredibly close in price and that is the only point I'm trying to make. I also have a decent knowledge of MC pricing, I did sell their boats for 2 years.
That is because that boat has a deck color, 2 areas of flake, and the lower hull color added. Notice how they are not broke out in the options section...... It is because they start with an actual base of 85k, add the upcharge for the hull and deck colors, plus the upcharge for over half of the hull being flake, (And you better believe that Nautique charges for those exact same things), and that is the MSRP before options. If that boat had a white hull, and deck, and had no flake, the base MSRP would be 85k......

I got my info from the dealers building site, and I remember that 80k was the starting price on my 2012. As of a month or two ago, the X25 was sitting at 85k, and the new X30 was at 80k.

Thx Eric. If the new X-25 true base msrp price is $95k, then yes there is only a 15k difference and I was wrong. That surf wave above looks pretty awesome.

According to a few of the riders that have been able to ride behind the G21, the wake has the shape of the pre-2005 210 and the size of the G23. If that is true, it will be one h**l of a wake. I have the G23, and the only complaint I had was that I liked the shape of my 2002 210 wake more. I have since gotten used to it, and love the G but can't wait to try out a 21. As far as the price goes, if you like the boat then it is worth the extra $, whether 10 or 15$ thousand, etc. If you like the mastercraft more, then that is great, you spend less, if you like the G more, then it will cost a bit more. To each their own, don't see why every forum post needs to turn into a "my boat is better, cheaper, more attractive, etc." http://www.wakeworld.com/forum/image...s/banghead.gif

I have put 250 hours on my boat since it was delivered on June 20th, therefore, regardless of the cost (within reason), I will buy the boat which I enjoy the most. I recommend for anyone else that is looking to purchase a boat, to take as much time and try as many models as you can so you will be educated in making the decision. While this site is great for knowledge the majority of the time, it turns into playground fights pretty frequently as well. As far as the MSRP, my dealer (action water sports in AZ) gave me a great deal. I ended up over MSRP because of options, but not by much. Just my experience FWIW

I personally feel that the more expensive a boat is the more prestigious it is therefore the better it is. When I roll up the ramp with my Skrillex pumping out the windows of my Escalade I don't want people to think "wow that boat puts out a great wake and has a bunch of sub floor ballast." I want them to think "wow that guy has an expensive boat therefore he must be rich and successful."

As far as the G21 being more expensive, I'd say it sure doesn't look like it should be. Like a Corvette ZR1, better specs than a Ferrari, but it's still made in the USA...

Ever since I was on the beach with my gal and some muscled meat head came and kicked sand in my face and done stole my girl. I then called my buddy Charles and I worked out and got some big muscles then went and kicked sand back in that guys face and got my girl back. Low reps for big gains.
