I need an alternator for my 2004 sanger v210 black scorpion. I called my nearest mercruiser shop and they refuse to tell me the part number of the alternator I need. Since the boat is currently in storage it's not trivial to just go look at it or get the engine serial number. Is there a place to look up part numbers?

According to the Quicksilver 2010 Product Guide all Black Scorpion from 2001 to 2009 use part #863077T (alternator). I would recommend taking out your present alternator and having it rebuilt if it is bad. It will save you a bunch of $$$$.

Where do you find it cheaper to rebuild? I called two electrical places and they both wanted >$200 and the new one is ~$200 as well. I found one on craigslist the guy says it's new for $125.

First of all how do you know for sure you need an alternator?

It's clicking loudly and it's really annoying. It's still working but something inside makes a loud click on every revolution.

If you go the CL route have it checked out first before handing over any money. Too many scammers on there.

I have never purchased from them but I know they have been mentioned on this site before. DB Electrical has a direct replacement for the Mercury 863077T alternator. You get an extra 5 amps of output for less than half the price and it comes with a one year warranty, $100.00 shipped sounds like an awesome deal if their alternators are any good. Maybe someone on here can give you first hand experience with one of their alternators. Looks like a good option if you are trying to fix it on the cheap. http://www.dbelectrical.com/p-3650-n...1-adr0316.aspx
