Hours on a used boat

Looking at a 2002 mobious LSV, 310 hrs, just wondering if that’s to many hrs for a used boat..

it is extremely easy to put 50-100 hours on a boat in a season.....keep in mind the hour meter runs even if the key is turned on (stereo etc)

No... i have 1200hrs. on my boat...it just depends on how it was cared for..

2300+ on mine. 310 is just a drop in the bucket.

I used to hear - 100 hours equals 10,000 miles in a car - 500 hours = 50,000 miles - etc.
Obviously it depends on what kind of (boat) driving) you do, as well as "who" was driving.
Not much different than evaluating a used car. Just ask lots of questions.
Also - how was it maintained? Did they change the oil every XX hours etc? And... I would always find out (unless you're in the midwest) - has the boat ever been in salt water. If so, how did they take care of it each time? So to me, 310 hours would be OK if the boat was well-maintained.
Last - I'd find out why they're selling. Does it sound like a reasonable story? Or has the boat been a problem? Get records where you can. Call the dealership that has worked on the boat. etc.

my truck has miles and hour display, it has 224276 miles on it and the hrs are 5876.5. So I don't think 300 hrs would be bad.

i have heard from over 5 boat mechanics that 100 hours is equivalent to 7000 miles on a car.

The hour meter generally does not run when the key is in the on...only when the motor runs. I think what people have said about the maintenance is a core issue. Well maintained boats inside also do not necessarily indicate a good boat either. Do you clean up your car before you take it to the dealer? Also, remember you are buying a used boat with no warranty in all likelihood. It may run today and then break tomorrow. Ask me how I know.

I'd worry more about how the boat was maintained rather than the hours. MANY people disable the hours meter anyways.....

A good look at the engine compartment, under the floors and under the boat will tell you more about the boat anyways.......
