tryed surfing yesterday behind my 21v. I have the standard gravity III system. I filled one side up all the way, other side halfway, center all the way. At 8.5 mph the wake does not even look ridable it looked better at 11.0 mph on perfect pass. I am a rookie to surfing yesterday was the first time. Also which part of the wave is ridable top or bottom? I am guessing a lot of people out there with the 21v have upgraded their bags?

What side are you trying to surf on?
I have not experience with that boat but
what I would try is t o fill the passenger side ballast up move all the people to that side of the boat then go just fast enough for the wake to clean up. Your perefect pass may not be accurate at that speed. Have you set your perfect pass with a GPS? IT can take some time for the wake to clean up on my Cyclone I get up ride out side the wake a wait a bit for the wake to form

in my experience, load the entire boat and then have all the peeps to shift to one side (left side for the 21v) and set pp on 10.5--then go up a bit if necessary -- no way possible you can surf @ 8.5 -- once up--shift most of your weight to your front foot.. don't worry about letting go of the rope -- until you can ride for minutes w/ slack in hte rope....

We have surfed as slow as 7 mph. Last week we had a 170 lb rider, ride an old and small prototype knee board at about 7.5 mph. I think that 11 mph sounds a bit fast, 10.5 might be fast for a "rookie". On my boat getting a hard list going is really important and helps to clean up the wake. Put you weight as far out board as possible.

Don't get in a rush to let go of the rope, let it go slack but hold on to it. After you really get the feel of the wake and your board, then try a free ride.

I’ll second Josh’s advice, put weight forward.

I would agree that you should weight the entire side of the boat front to back.

I would NEVER alow anyone to ride like the picture above :-()

Well yes but the cool thing about that its there is no flesh tearing bone breaking amputating whirring prop.

I have know of a person falling over board around that location of the boat and not living to tell about it. After having this happen when a friend was driving a boat it changed how I think about boating!

You might check out this page the first video talks about saftey. http://www.inlandsurfer.com/videos.asp

So not in my boat.
