Hoping you all can help with some suggestions.
My family is looking for our next destination to stay on or near a lake/river for a summer vacation. We are hoping to eventually find a place that we like enough to buy a modest home there as a summer/rental/retirement home.

Preferably within 1000 miles from SoCal.

We have been to Shasta, Powell, Mead, Nacimiento, Havasu, Colorado River and Mojave.

Thanks in advance!

smaller lake, but ballin, dream to leave here some day, Combie Lake, in either Auburn, or Meadowvista, CA.

Too bad there is no where to live near bullards bar unless you want to live in North San Juan :-). I live in Auburn though and consider Bullards my home lake.

Best spot on the colorado river is between needles and topock (240 miles from orange county). The only bad part is the water is fairly chilly even in the summer. We were here about a month this year. PM me if you are interested in more info.

Jaegermaster, I'll take that to the grave! It's hazardous there...at least 20 boats are lost in that area each year!

I second Bullards, but Shasta is my favorite
