Hi I recently moved to Seattle and have finally got a chance to go out in Sammamish this weekend. On my first wipeout I noticed that the water tastes a whole lot less like jet fuel than any place I used to go in Southern Cal.

I do have a couple of questions:

1. I know of two boat ramps on the south end of the lake. Are there any on the north end?

2. Are there any public places to beach or doc the boat if you just want a break and would like hang out on the lake?

3. The lake really needs a restaurant/bar with a doc.

Hey Phil,

1. Yea, there are but they're all private.

2. Not really. I think that the park at the south end might offer what you're looking for here, but I'm not sure b/c I never go down there. There will be some pretty big tie-ups at the north end as the weather gets hotter though.

3. Agreed. It would make a killing. It'd be nice to be able to gas up too.

A bar would be dope but you'll have to go to Lake WA for that. Lake Sammamish is all residential water front proerty, a business would have to buy a house to tear down and build a commercial restuarant. Dont get me wrong I would love to see it, buts its not likely.

I don't know of any public places to dock and hang out. Mostly just the rich locals that live on the lake who have that privelage .

2. No public docks, but you can beach at lake Samm state park (south) or at Idlewood in the north end. There is also Vasa park in the middle west side of the lake, its a private park you have to pay to get into, but there are no docks really there either.

3. The zoning laws won't allow it. (from what I have been told)

Welcome to the Lake!

I think property costs a little too much to start up a restuarant or other business on the water front. I have seen lots with houses to be torn down that cost over 1 million. Not really worth it for a business that will only be super busy a couple of months out of the year.

No doubt bastard!!! They won't give permits for food vendors on the lake, we wanted to do a jetski pizza, hotdog delivery deal from our dock and they told us "No way!!!" If you are new to sammamish be careful of the poorly marked pilings on the n.e. corner and the sunken forest by vasa park on the w. side.

Lake Sammamish is residential only, which is why the water doesn't taste like jet fuel.

I went out after work yesterday and though it wasn't butter anymore it was a real good time anyways.

Any day that the sun is out, you'll probably find that the water is chopped up real good with all the boats. Gets pretty crowded when the weather is nice like it was yesterday. (We don't get that many nice days in Seattle, so everyone takes advantage when they can.)
