Always use caution with alternative energies. I don't have an environmentally friendly answer even though my profession is in environmental work.

Hydrogen technology and many "hybrid" or "green" options require larger and or sustained greater energy demands than traditional methods. Just because you're not burning gas or oil it doesn't mean that you're not consuming greater amounts of energy. Then the question is asked "Where does that energy come from? What impacts do that method of energy creation have?"

It's the same reason I make the comment about water reduction. Argue that water is a finite resource if you will but consider that water out of our taps is treated, that treatment process requires energy. So by using less water you indirectly reduce energy consumption.

Sure there's the rich sector, the corporations, etc. While this is true how is the economy run? Isn't it based on demand? Enough small changes in everyones lives can change the shape of the demand. I'm not proposing we all start riding bicycles to work. Instead I'm asking the question "What can you do? What can I do? to reduce your/my consumption while still maintaining an enjoyable lifestyle?"

The little things might seem insignificant but just like the theory in Office Space when they're trying to rip off "a fraction of a penny" both create a substantial result over a period of time.

I totally agree with you Jeff. thats why I mentioned the Prius and HASMAT. When you think you have taken care of one problem...then another (usually a much worse) occurs. So your impact on the environment stays the same or becomes even more of an issue. Truly wakeboarding is not good for the environment. But we are a small ninche group. But big government will point the fingers and take it away if we go along with their idealogy. Look at tourism industry this year. With the cost of fuel going through the roof...everyone is cutting back and not going out on the Holidays. We have a really popular camp ground in Michigan...if you don't book it in February for the 4th of July...your not getting a spot. There are over 800 sites in this park. And more than half is still available. This will further kill Michigan's economy (unemployment is 8%) I think global warming trend is one of the real reasons our fuel pricing is going up..big oil knows we are going to use less. Meanwhile China is using more fuel...and it;s much cheaper there. Thats why I stated...China will be the next Super Power. The US will go to the wayside just like Europe did when America became the Super Power. Get use to 8 to 10 a gallon...it's coming. And they tell us daily that it is. http://biz.yahoo.com/ap/080506/oil_prices.html?.v=20 and for Jeff's comment about hysteria...here ya go..he is right: http://www.businessandmedia.org/articles/2008/20080506160205.aspx

Anyone see that algore is now claiming "he told us so" with Global Warming and that it caused the Cyclone that has hit and killed all the people. He's also claiming that many more "KILLER SUPER STORMS" are on their way. I think he's seen the day after one too many times.

Hey, scott, do you think you could start breaking up your posts into smaller paragraphs, it would really help the readability of your comments. Not that I necessarily agree with them in their entirety, but would still like to read them based on your position w/n the automotive industry.

thanks

I'll keep it short. Government says: Gas is bad. Use less. Carbon emissions = more money for Al and lobbyist that support it. Big gas tanks on boats..four hours of fun......cost A LOT of money. Ask your local dealer how boats sales are doing? Do you trailer your boat? How far? And at what price? Or do you trailer your boat with a Prius? And how is that working for you? If you don't use a Prius or something equivilent..you should feel guilty because your hurting the environment. Is four hours of fun worth hurting the environment? I don't think you can be completely GREEN and be a wakeboarder. Your impacting the environment whether you pay money or not and your footprint is the same. That's why I call this Hypocracy. If you want to be good for the environment...stop wakeboarding and start kiteboarding. I'm dry docking the boat this season. So the governments plan is working. Wife is going to school and I am not dropping money down to tow it. Lifestyle is changing, and I as well as others will have to go along with it. Bottom line is....A democracy is not a government telling you what to do and how to do it. But that is what is happening here. Welcome to Socialism!
