The nut came off the alternator pulley allowing the belt to slide off and rip. Found a replacement belt at a NAPA auto parts store but it was a little short. Well, I tried to push the tensioner just a little too far and it snapped. Anybody ever replaced one of these? Is it difficult? I have the 01 X Star with the LTR motor.
Any help would be appreciated....!

The Tensioner snapped?

yes, the tensioner wheel broke off the cover and came off in my hand. I will have to replace the tensioner spring cover at a minimum and possible the entire assembly.

i'm not sure of your exact set up, but i always put the belt on the the idler pulley last. it is usually the only pulley without a lip. ie put the belt around all the pulleys including the tensioner first then slip it over the idler when you get the slack out.
