If you don't want to spend too much money, I'd just go with a flat deck, because it's only going to run you 100.00 or so. Or, you could look for a used wakeskate that might have some concave, like a hyperlite or some sort of compression molded deck, since those will last longer than a wood deck (but they're more expensive--brand new, a concave deck made of wood or compression molded foam can run you anywhere from 200-250.00). as far as sizing goes, I'd recommend anything from a 40-41 inch board. As "sinko" said, you could essentially ride any size board, and go up to a 43 or so (I cannot remember how large they make them anymore, but they used to go up to 45 inches). A longer board is going to be a little bit more stable, but it's going to be more difficult to bring around if you try any sort of rotation. Furthermore, given that you're shorter, you're going to need a really wide stance on that thing...I would just stick with something in the range I've suggested. I'm 5'3 as well and right now I'm on a 42 inch hampson bi-level, and I don't have a problem with it, but I certainly wouldn't go any larger, and I would not mind going smaller (and will be because now i have a 40 and 41 to choose from). If you've ever stood on a skateboard, you'll understand where the positioning of your feet will need to be, and then you'll probably be able to visualize what I'm saying about board length and stance.
