Well guys I had a great ride on saturday evening, on my second try I got up.....I was really unstable once up and fought some serious weaving, I dropped my back hand and it even weaved a little more but I held on an the next thing I knew it was tracking like it was on rails!!!!

I rode from the southeast corner of Rocky Bayou all the way around almost to the bridge, I had to be up for over 5 minutes.

After I felt stable enough with one hand I put the other back on the handle to try to get used to it also, worked good..

Feeling confident, I tried to lean toeside and cut outside the wake. I realized it is harder to edge toeside then it is heelside, when I hit the wake a planted pretty good!!!

The worse thing of all, it was real late around 7:00 PM and we only had a few minutes to be legal to ride, so we didnt bother to get the camera or the cam corder out.

Once up it sure is alot less work (energy exerted) than skiing or kneeboarding.

Thanks for all the help guys.

I will probably be back out on Memorial day.

Way to go. Learning to get up is half the battle. Now your next battle is going wake to wake. The good news is you have a whole summer ahead of you.Good luck and have fun.

At this point I couldnt handle a wake off of a canoe!!

I figured out go straight, now time to work on steering...

Who needs a $1500.00 ballast system, when you got five fat old bald guys.

Just have Bubba move his 350 Lbs of built in Ballast around to where you need it...

Considering the average age of the "kids" (no offense to anyone) on here, I feel old as hell.

I tried and tried to get up on the board and my 15 year old son just jumps up on his first try and rides around. He even cuts outside the wake heelside and rides like he has been doing it his whole life....Damn Kid, no respect for his elders....LOL

My wife jokes and says I'm hitting my midlife crises....

She may be on to something....

"OFG"!!! I love it... my new acronym. I’ve been riding for a few years now but from now on I will always be an OFG - Old Fat Guy!!

Congratulations on getting up. You are now official addicted as the rest of us OFG's. The bad thing about being an OFG and wakeboarding is... we can afford to do it! Get ready to dish out some serious coin. GOOD LUCK!

Sweet! Pictures are mandatory. Just don't start trying to keep up with the kids: torn meniscus, $4,000, concussion, $ I forget, shoulder inpingement, fortunately not my B-ball shooting arm, clearing the wake...Priceless. One suggestion; helmet. Looks kinda goofy but weirdly cool.

I'm 46 and have been riding for a few years. I feel very old on this site.
I would buy an old guys riding shirt, sounds fun.
Your right about the old guys being able to afford it better.
Just got a new Xstar this year and just cleared the, wake to wake, this weekend, riding 10’ further back than I am use to. Also riding switch, have been coming in toe side and going to a switch 180, hit it the first time I tried it behind the new boat, only landed it 2 times last year. Man was that fun, I think my jaw fell open

Hey I started last summer at 49. Had my first lesson on my 50th birthday. Not an old guy but an old wake chick.

I too have reached an age and size that dictates that Speedos shouldn't be worn, but I would go for a shirt.
I hope to be doing inverts when I'm 70, it may take me that long to learn how.

You think they should make a division in PWT for Geriatrics?
I think there would be a large contingency for both men and women ( me included).

I've watched several older gentlemen attempt wakeboarding for the 1st time and many try to fight the boat when trying to get out of the water. The boat always win

I'm up for 50+ contests. I wonder how many 50+ OFGs are throwing inverts and 360s?

CONGRATULATIONS! You're way ahead of me; It took this old guy several months -- and a new wakeboard boat -- to be able to get up.

Ain't it GREAT?

I think 40+ is better, I mean why exclude anyone right? I only have a little thinning up top but have the injuries from wakeboarding to prove I am old for sure.
