I currently ride a 2001 byerly 'finless' 139cm. I am 6'4, and around 260lb. I absolutely love the way this board rides. I was actually riding a 2003 parks 143, and bought this as a slider board. However, the parks eventually delaminated, and it took months to get it back from HL in which case the 'fix' didn't really fix the board. During this time I rode on the byerly and decided I prefered the mellow fluid riding feel on from the board, with the strong edges and the 3 stage pop. I will mention that I have ridden the '04 absolute a couple times, did not like it. It felt real edgy and skittish. I am willing to consider any manufacturer, Also an '03 or '04 board is fine too, as I am not set on paying exorbitant prices for a new board.

Also, the only reason I am considering getting a new board is because I want something bigger, for softer landings.

What do you recommend?

I'd look at the premier. It is a pretty mellow ride and pops and lands well. I just happen to have an '04 141 for sale. $200 shipped.

I'd try the Transcend, it has a great edge and real consistent huge pop. Go with the bigger size & you will not be disappointed. Also this years Absolute rides much differently than last years, might be worth checking out.

have you ridden the absolute with or without the center fin?? I ride on an 03 absolute 140 and don't remember having ridden it with the center fins on... without it, it feels smooth and loose but bites really hard on edge... it pops like crazy but it's still a pure 3 stage and lacks a little consistency... I'd look for something bigger(like a 143) also if I could afford a new board and maybe something more like a blended continuous/3 stage rocker... even if I really like the board I'm riding right now, I think I would go for an 05 CWB Tatoo 143 or an 05 Trancend 142... I really thrust CWB boards... but also the Liquid Force Omega 143 seems interesting...

As said try the premier but also try the state, thats what I ride and I love it. but try it with the center fin so it grips more like the byerly.
