When you make your progressive cut back to the wake, do you come back towards the boat or away from the boat?

I've attached an illustration.

If your going wake to wake your supposed to be kinda perpendicular to the boat, kinda like the top arrow in ur illustration.

well unless your arms stretch, its physically impossible to cut in the opposite direction of the boat. the more perpendicular you get to it, the more distance you will get typically, but with decent form you dont have to cut very hard to clear the wake

It also depends what speed and line length you are using
