heres da deal: I didn't want to throw up another "please help me choose what board" thread so I've been tryin to wait. I saw the 05 LF lineup just now and think I have seen the promised land. i ride a byerly now and love the pop but am in the market for new gear. Im diving off the hyperlite train and think liquid force is the way to go. 134 substance w/ultras! my only concern is that it may be too small. I am 5'7"-8" and weigh bout 165. I ride a 137 but do you think 134 is too small??? I am an advanced rider and am torn between going bigger or smaller on my next purchase.

i rode a 142? subjekt yesterday and it seemed to big for me.

As a rough reference, two of my friends (both weigh between 160-170) ride either a 134 or 136. They both mention it's easier to spin with smaller boards. The only downside is the landing may not be as forgiving as, say, a 138.

134 sounds a little small for you buddy. Especially for an advanced level rider. It doesn't sound like enough board for you to land on.

Go with the 138. I'm riding the 138 with ultras right now. It's a pretty sweet set up and one of the lightest around for a board that size. The Alphas are even lighter than the Ultras, too.

i would opt for the transits if i were to go the alpha route but I love the way the new ultras look

Ringo, I have ridden Byerlys for years, and I really liked the Subjekt when I tried it, it felt the most similar. Why did you demo the Subjekt so much longer than the deck you normally ride, why not try the Subjekt 137? In any case, I'm sure they both are good boards.

I didn't demo it was a dude named Justin Mclure's board who used to tour with necrasson and the rest of liquid force crew a few years back. he rides the substance as well but for some reason left his board at home and had the 142 subjekt at the shop he works at. I guess he has a few boards.I was 1/2 drunk and it was getting a little dark so i prolly didn;'t get that great of an impression.

The Substance pop is totally different from the Byerly pop that you're used to.

I used to ride an '02 Byerly 137 then I went to the '03 Substance 141. The pop was just as big, more predictable and waaaaaay more floaty. It made wakeboarding easy.

The size difference between the 137, and 141 wasn't even noticeable. I liked the longer board because I could get my stance wider. From a Byerly 137 to a Substance 138 is what I would reccommend.

I'm like 5'9" 140.
