Yeah, the jet skiers are always there! I camp and ride on the other side just to avoid them.

Only on the weekends because that is when the Rangers are there, during the week if there is anyone there, no one really gets popped- retarded crap especially with all the kids that play in the water on the shoreline, and how many injuries and deaths that have happened on all the other lakes so far this year.

What's BV like (depth, camping, does it get busy, etc)? Looks big enough. Is there shore camping? We always go up to San Antonio, but BV would be much closer.

Thanks for any info. I tried Googling it, but it wasn't very easy finding specific info.

Its not a deep lake at all, I dont know specifics but I remember the depth display on my bud's boat saying depths between 5-10 ft, but that is just when I looked at it. There is shore camping, and it can get busy on the weekends as well, so you might have to get up early like 6 am to get good water.

Thanks Mitch. I'll have to check it out this winter. They said the campsites are booked through Thanksgiving. Are all the campsites pretty much the same, or is there a "better" area to request?

It seems the lake is mostly 5-6', with one stretch that is 8-12'(starting at end of camping peninsula). Camping is nice, gotta call 15 weeks in advance for summer weekends, at least for waterfront. We can only make it on the weekends, so up at 5:15, done by 9:30. In the summer, not much chance of good water after that. Can be tough to sleep at night, you never know who's camping next to you. I recommend ear plugs.

Oh yeah, almost got taken out by a jet skiier at the end of the 5mph zone. They're the best!

No prob, I normally go up with a homie, and they somehow always get waterfront without too much notice, but waterfront is preffered, there isn't a large caming area it is actually pretty condensed to one side of the lake, then there is a day camp. I wish you luck when you go though man.

beware of the local patrol. they are heavy on DUI busts. they took their focus off of harrassing campers and consntrate almost entirely on DUI. besides its a great place to camp and have a good time. campgrounds are excellent and they also have full bathrooms with hot showers. if there on a weekend i wouldnt plan on much good riding like others have said. its good for the first run before 8 am and on occassion you can get a good last set of the evening but thats it.

Stay away from BV in the winter, the water starts to grow a skin eating bacteria around November.

DO NOT COME TO BV IN THE WINTER!!
