I'm doing a random, early-season trip next week. Searched all the websites (mountain and weather), but need some first hand opinions on where a good place to go is (ie powder). I was thinking AK, but the daylight is pretty limited. Any help??? Need to book a flight by Wednesday...

i dont know its a tuff call, im off to Austria and France for 3 weeks on the 28th to ride. the snow should be great, but you never know, i might be another casualty of global warming.

didn't BC get hit hard?

I'd love to do the Austria thing too, but time (and funds) won't allow for that. I'm sure you'll find some great conditions.

BC is hit and miss right now. My buddy was up at Revelstoke Saturday and said it was OK. The OK valley is not that great yet (just groomies). I hear Whistler got a bunch recently...

Personally, I'd like to get out of Canada for a bit and enjoy the U.S. hospitality ;). Just need to find the snow!

Thanks everyone. I'm booking with airmiles so I only need two days advance. Guess I'll watch the reports and pull the trigger before Friday. Hopefully Tahoe keeps snowing...

Blazer....

I'm going to AK Feb 18.... Should have plenty of daytime.

They just got 100 inches in the past week. Forecast looks bare for a few days... but the snow should be super dry!

Whistler got a ton, then got warm, then cold and I hear its hard right now.

AK could be a nice choice, but I think the jet is finally moving south to favor Colorado,Utah or California. Reno might be a good call.

I am going to Aspen for Highlands opener Saturday. That's always a good time, but kind of hard for you to get there.

H2O: Alyeska is a nice little resort and the NF is good terrain with a nice empty tram. Do a couple of days with CPG in the heli, butdon't bother with the cat.

yea.... would love to do a few days with CPG.... pretty expensive to do for 2 people.

Yeah, I have been watching Alyeska very closely, but it could be pretty icy if it doesn't snow soon. It looks like Tahoe got slammed yesterday and looks promising for the rest of the weeks...

Although Colorado is always fun.

H2O: Feb is the very beginning of heli season and weather is iffy, so people don't book in advance. You might be able to do a standby on the heli for quite a bit cheaper.
Mike and Chris, the owners, are really good guys and will work with you if your flexible.

Blaser: Yes, Tahoe is probably your best call. Just wait and see how quickly they can get terrain open. Hopefully the forecast stays cold.

Full day, 16,000-20,000 ft is $1075. That's anywhere from 4-10 runs, depending on conditions.
Some clients may not make it all day, some do. Late in the day, if you got empty seats, your going to put someone in them for whatever you can get.

I've gotten 4000 ft runs for $100.
