I use the vinegar/water mixture with great success on my boat but was wondering if any of you guys use it on your vehicles (for removing water spots).

Matt:

As promised, an update. The treatment for the Dog worked great. Problem is, he no longer answers to his name - Spot.

What is this magic vinegar/water cocktail you all are referring to?

50-50 in a spray bottle.

Works wonders on waterspots and a very good all round cleaner.

does this have any effect on the boat after it has been waxed. i mean will it strip the wax off? also, anyone ever heared of using pledge on the boat (exterior), after it has been wiped down?

Tickle - I asked a PHD chemist about the wax strip and he claimed that the vinegar solution would have the same effect as washing your boat with soap (a little wax strip each time but nothing more than washing your boat with soap). We have muddy water so I usually wash first with soap/water then spray with vinegar/water then wet it and wipe down. Comes out looking nice.

Have heard about Pledge but have never tried it and do not know the pros/cons.

Pledge looks good for a few moments but that is about it.

5050 mix isn't acidic enough to take off the wax.

Here is the regiment that I have used in the past:

Strip all the wax and water grime with lime-a-way and water

clean and rinse real good

wax and buff with starbrite marine polish/wax with teflon.

after that, a little 50 50 gets the spots off till the end of the season (more like a month break...gotta love Texas)

On the seats, we use 303 and Mr. Clean bar for hard stuff.

are you guys spraying the 50/50 mix before or after wiping down the boat...?

Bob if you run in muddy water do you ever flush your engine?

tickle, I usually just wipe the boat down at the lake. when I get home I spray and wipe it down with the solution.
