that really doesnt say much, and just for arguments sake im
sure the 2011 product line could have been finished before

I hope they are not done, I hate seeing companies in the wake industry suffer.

I don't like to hear about these companies going out either but I too heard from a pretty reliable source they were done. Again I hope not but why are people having trouble reaching them? Good customer service starts with people being able to pick up the phone and get ahold of someone. And secondly, why havn't they responded to this thread? Maybe because of the holidays they're gone until after the 1st of the year?

I have heard that they were done too and i know a guy that worked for them commented on the 2011 thread and i read it before he deleted his post saying that he is now riding a LWA board so i was just confused, its going to suck if they are going out, there products were pretty top notch

This would have come as quite a surprise, to me at least. It seemed like their boards were very popular and they were getting lots of exposure, in videos, mags and the like.
Old     (wake77)      Join Date: Jan 2009       12-31-2010, 11:06 AM Reply
It seems strange, and I have not found any 2011 Company product anywhere. But then again, Gator boards seemed to kind of "lay low" in 2010 as far as new product roll out is concerned. But Company has been pretty visible on this board and haven't seen them lately. Haven't heard from Nicola's dad lately either.

yea i have to say im pretty dissapointed...I still have had no contact with them and this has been since the week before thanksgiving.
ive also seen the 2011 product line...i believe there was a link on here somewhere
I liked the line up but i still like the older 4 bolt binding design and the new recruit doesnt have
it anymore. guess it wont matter much since i cant use the bindings anymore

I rode my first Company board a year and a half ago and haven't looked back since! I ride the Severance with Vandall bindings and it's the best setup for me that I've ever ridden, I'll be gutted if they stop making them!

I had a 09 recruit 143 and loved it..................but then 2 weeks after warranty was up broke the board and they wouldnt help a guy out, so i am now a watson hybrid guy.

Soli,in answer to your question Nicola is still riding her pro model Company board.

I think they have a mfg. Supply problem. Seems demand is more than can be shaped. Remember, these are made here and not dished out by people who have probably never seen a board before. Remote seems to have the same issue.

some of there boards are made by integrity wakeskates in oregon so it could just be working everything out with them for the 2011 boards. and their twitter has been quit for about 2 months now. im sure they will be breaking the silence soon can't let small companies die. especially one as good as company which isn't run by ski companys.

w/o the ski "companys", wakeboarding might not have reached the heights it has. that's not a knock on company. i hope to hear good news from them soon and wish them the very best!

From the beginning I wasn't sure the market had enough room too sustain 2 thin profile, flex specific companies (SS and Company). It possibly could have worked in Europe where cables are more prevalent, but the US market is so boat dominant it'd be a tough road to profitability. Their marketing people were rad and did everything they could from great, gimmicky internet stuff... all the way to the high profile signings like Randall and Nicola. But in the end, a sh*tty market is a hard place to introduce a niche product, especially when one already exists.

Really sucks honestly... Hope they figure something out or the talent that was there finds themselves a home at some of the other manufactures.

That being said... It could be huge for Byerly... rumors have Randall already signing with them and Nicola is a no brainer considering her relationship with Rathy.

Thoughts?
Old     (hawkeye7708)      Join Date: Feb 2007       01-13-2011, 10:51 AM Reply
Luker,

I think that the question of where Company's riders would end up IF Company is indeed going under is probably the most interesting one. Company did amass an extremely talented group of riders in its short time. If Randall signed with Byerly boards that would be some serious legend power on that team. Nicola signing with them could be interesting as she's had a previous relationship with Byerly's parent company, Hyperlite. I don't know if that would play into any decision at all though.

Reeder, Rossiter, Bashir and Chris O would be no brainers at Slingshot I'd hope... those guys all shred hard with major style on rails.

WOW ALWAKE... If thats the CASE BYERLY would be SO LEGIT.... Byerly and Randall OMG domination the STYLE!!! WOW WOW WOW as if.....

This MIGHT help solve some of the many ???marks reguarding Lyman too. IF indeed the rumors were true that he was signing on with Company and IF indeed Company is done then that would have made him free-floating without a board sponsor?

I had a thought about Randall going to Phallanx Wake, being side by side with Ricky G and all, West side riders. But I kinda wonder about Phallanx well-being too. There has not been any news about phallanx in a while. But going with Byerly sounds pretty cool

good luck to everyone

Pretty sure he's gonna be shreddin some Afghans for the next 4 years... the "Lyman" thread earlier indicated he went into military service. The Reeder, Rossiter stuff is just me thinking outloud... I've haven't heard the first thing about anything like that.

looking at a few newer companies that have succeeded thus far there is one thing to pay attention to that makes a huge difference. ronix-sells wakeboards, skates, and has other divisions that sell skis, tubes, etc. slingshot has money coming in from it's kiteboard side. byerly has the backing of kent water sports. all have become a success thus far and who knows if they would have w/o the other divisions. hopefully it's all hearsay and they are letting us run our mouths and will blow our minds soon.

So I got the new issue of Alliance in the mail a couple days ago. I noticed a short little interview with Randall about his board but not a single company product in either the buyers guide or in the tests. Kinda sad, I learned a lot of new tricks on my Recuit this season (I should say Recruit's, I went through 3) and really like this board.

I bet they'll let the rumors fly until the 2011 product launch. Seems to be their way. Company are brilliant marketers in terms of letting the word spread and then making some big announcement.

However, people are buying 2011 gear now. So if they want to cash in they better get it out there before their loyal following buys another ride for 2011.

This is all assuming they're sticking around of course, which I hope they do.

Brilliant marketing is not answering your customers as it relates to warranty issues with your product? I surely didn't listen very well in my marketing classes then. :-)

Remote seems to be fine. the alliance mag has a interview with silas and has 4 remote decks listed in the gear guide, the ones with old-school cereal box art. I thought remote and company were joined somehow maybe the two companies are individual enough not to influence each other if so

I get that this is frustrating guys, but cut them some slack. Put yourself in Justins shoes, if you put everything you had into a company and it didn't work out, don't you think it would be a little hard on you and your family? Nobody sets out to build a company that can't sustain. Granted I have no idea if they are done, but if they are then it's not easy for them.

I agree Joe. There are people involved in this story. Not some faceless, evil corporation.

I wish the best for all involved in this venture and either way I am still a fan of the product. In fact, I snapped my Recruit 139 on Friday. If anyone has a 138 Severance or a 139 Recruit that is still structurally sound, I will buy it. Cosmetics are no problem--$100. Please PM me pics of any damage it may have.

Dave - you think Justin is doing this so that he can jerk people around? As previously posted there are employees and families involved here. This is not Bernie Madoff...

So with Slingshot officially signing Lyman today and at the bottom of the article, they say "Stay tuned. There’s more excitement coming from Slingshot soon…" and Justin still saying he is working on everything and will come out with some news soon. I wonder if there is a merger with these two companies. Just a thought????????
