Looking for my family's first boat

We would like to spend less than 30K

Here are the boats we are interested in located in MN

-2004 Centurion Lighting with 175 Hours

-2004 Malibu Wakesetter VLX with 320 Hours

We surf more than wakeboard with my old knees

any advice or things to look out much appreciated

No question that you should go with the Centurion. Waaaay better surf boat. You can surf the VLX, but it takes a lot of tweaking and the pocket is short. I have vast experience in surfing both of those boats. It's a night and day difference.

I'd agree, the sv23 hull on the 04 'bu is not that great for surfing, I own one. If you can get an 05 vlx or 09 vride, different story.

If the Lightning is a C4 go for that one. The C4 has a different hull than the regular Lightning I think. I own a regular 04 Lightning right now that is pretty tough to get the surf wake dialed in. I pretty much have my rub rail under water and have to be very careful and I'm still not that impressed with the wave. Also, you will most likely want the trim tab on the Lightning. Mine is a manual tab and I still haven't gotten all of the wash out of the lip of the wave.

Is the 2000 Air Warrior an elite v? If so, same hull as the lightning.

The 2004 Wakesetter is a great boat, but like others said, probably not the best choice for surfing.

You should plan to put the bennett trim tab on either of the centurions if it doesn't already have it. Makes a lot of difference.

Head over to centurioncrew.com . One guy over there has a lightning/elite v hull and has a ton of surf weight in it. Post a thread and ask there.

You might want to check out 2004,2005 and 2006 Tige's. The 22VE and 24VE and 22v and 24v.

Offer this guy 30k for this boat. One of the best surf boats you can buy and it will hold a ton of people.
