Bow/Trailer tie down help.

Hey everyone, just wondering if there is any better way to attach the bow of the boat to the trailer than I already have. I have the winch strap and then a strap around the bow hook and trailer just to keep the bow from bouncing a bit. You can see in the pictures that there is a little tab that I can hook something on to near the bow, but it's a little more under the boat than I would like. Thanks for your help!

Get a boat buddy. It's the fastest, easiest way to put you boat on the trailer.

Instead of that strap, just make sure your bow is tight to the roller with the winch strap.

Then setup another cable or chain with a clip as a hard mounted 2nd tie down. This one would just be an aux tie down, and doesn't' need to be tight.

Do you have rear tie town straps? I highly recommend the boat buckle tie downs.

Yep, they're more expensive....but they are ALWAYS there when you need them. Everyone i know has lost a strap or 2 off the back, and you never need to replace these ones.

Thanks D H. I was looking for some more ideas that are for safety, so that chain makes sense to me. The convenience of the boat buddy sounds great too. And yes, I do strap down the rear of the boat.

I bought those boat buckles (in stainless) a few years ago and they STILL work flawlessly! I have seen the "stocker" retractable straps on the older DHM trailers and these are FAR superior. They ratchet and retract every time without fail. One of the best add ons I ever did to my trailer.

they make one for the front too. i have the two on the back but my trailer isn't set up for one in the front.

Again, don't like teh orientation of that strap. I want that auxiliary tie down strap to keep my boat from moving backwards on teh trailer, not to keep it from moving up.

I broke a strap on the way home from Texoma on Memorial day, I didnt have a safety strap.... I'm just glad I installed the boat buckles prior to the trip... The boat slid back 4-6" scarey... I ordered a heavy duty winch strap from west marine... I need some kind of safety chain also..

I've always used a bow eye safety chain in addition to the winch strap. just added measure, cause you never know what may happen.
