Does anyone out there have the bennet trim tab on your boat? I know its an option with the v215 but havnt seen or heard of one on a v210. How do you like it on the 210 or 215?

I just installed one on my D215 but have not had it on the water yet. Maybe later during the week.
It goes up one inch and down 3/8 from level with the bottom of the boat. The fixed plate on mine was down 3/16" from level from the factory.

Steve, my dealer actually steered me away from this option. He said that due to the hull design it wasn't necessary and didn't do a whole lot.

Steve, give Gary a call. I think he still has one sitting in his garage.

Whats one inch gonna due for wake shape. My buddys supra goes up way more than that and you can see and feel the difference in the wake. It sounds like this plate is more to stop porposing than wake shape.

Wrong, You've got no plate at all on your 210 so that's what the tab runs like all the way up. Put it down for faster starts, better slalom wake, or a more gentle ramp. I think the Supra only moves about 2" but I could be wrong.

Please elaborate as I don't use a wakeplate nor have one.

A wake plate is simply a trim tab that, when up, lets the stern settle into the water or, when down, lifts the stern to trim the boat and put the bow down. It basically just adjusts the attitude of the boat like trim on a sterndrive.

I have it on my V215. I only use when driving around going back to the dock. I can go at WOT through other boat wakes like butter when its down. Gives it a great ride through chop.

The wake plate makes a huge difference...I have it on the V215 and it makes skiing much more bearable. Still not a great ski wake...but much better! It also is nice to play with when Surfing etc. I wouldn't get another without it!

I ran my D215 on Friday with the hydraulic plate for the first time. I used to have the fixed plate off the transom. They are the same width but the fixed plate is 1" longer. There was a pretty dramatic difference in shape when playing with the hydraulics.
Top speed was best with the plate at about 25% which is up most of the way. Launch was best at 100% which is all the way down. I could steepen the ramp at speeds from 8 to 25 easily by putting the plate up and could make it less intimidating for my kids by putting it way down. I didn't notice much difference between 0 and 25% unless I was going really slow. The hull did not porpoise with the plate at any setting.
We had whitecaps and rough water for a while and the boat ran best with the plate at about 80% or at 0% when I was going slower than planing speed.

This is the hydraulic adjustable plate. (I've always wanted adjustable attitude in boats)

and this is the Barefoot fixed plate. (It came on my boat)

By the way, the Sanger handled the chop better than my old 18' I/O would have. I'll wait for a big storm to tell you if it's as good on really large rollers.

is that FAE on a Sanger? If so how much? Easy install? Did you hear a difference?

good ole hydralic trim tabs...hull attitude adjustment on the fly is a great option IMHO

Yes Kenny, that's an FAE. No affect on anything I could tell except the noise. The center of the wake table has that aerated green tinge that you see on an I/O but without all the turbulence. The boat was much quieter. When running full throttle you could hear the intake much more than the exhaust.
It was pretty easy to install. Nothing complicated and Larry Mann was very quick to fix some small problems. I'd recommend it to anyone.
Mine is one of the new polished stainless units but they still have the Black.

Nice setup! Did you install it yourself?

I put on the FAE and the Bennet. The FAE was easy and just took time to check everything. The wakeplate was a lot more complicated but most of the time was just routing the lines and wiring. The worst part was my busting a couple of screw heads off when mounting the base plate for the adjustable tab. I should have used a 32th larger size on my pilot drill holes for the screws. That took an effort to fix.

How much was it?
Old     (rallyart)      Join Date: Nov 2006       06-26-2007, 7:54 AM Reply
I think they're selling for $379 and it's a bit more for the polished. I got mine when he had a promotion on over the winter so it was a bit less.
Way cheaper than having to upgrade the stereo.

Steve- ordered the bennett on my 07 v215. love it. huge difference in the chop. also brings the bow down to a better viewing level when boarding; doesn't seem to effect wake at boarding speeds. highly recommended.
