Resolve Heavy Traffic Carpet Cleaner?

was going to give this a shot on my carpet. it got pretty hammered last year on our road trips and although i cleaned it good before i tucked her away i can't help but think i could get it cleaner. anybody want to talk me out of using this stuff?

i picked up one of those bissel grean machines last spring and although it does a pretty good job, i was wondering if this resolve stuff might work better to lift the deeper stuff.

the resolve heavy traffic is a spray can that shoots foam, you spray it on, work it with a sponge/brush and then vacuum it up. i've heard using this kind of stuff can sometimes make the carpet attract more dirt later on, but don't know if that's true or not.

This is what me and several others from another message board that I frequent do to clean our carpet.
Spray some deluted simple green on all carpet. Let it sit for 5-10 min. Pull the plug on your boat, and jack up the front as high as you can get it. Start in the bow with a pressure washer and slowly rake towards the back. You may need to do this 3 or 4 times just make sure you are getting no more suds when you spray. After that mix up a bottle of liquid fabric softener and hot water. Spray all carpet and repeat process.
You will be happy with the result. Carpet is clean and fluffed and smells really good. Just be careful not to hold the pressure washer too close to the carpet. If you are blasting it, you can work the glue loose under the carpet. I do this about twice a year and never had any problems. Only good results.

If you hit it with the heavy traffic and the bissel, you should be good. I usually spray the resolve and let it do it's thing per instructions, then get the resolve up with the bissel, then get the carpet wet with the hot, soapy bissel mixture and then suck it all up. (Using the attachment that does NOT have the little rotary vacuum.) Usually leaves it clean and no soapy residue. Which attachment are you using.

Resolve also makes a stain product in a spray bottle. I've had some success with it on tough stains. Hopefully Tyler (Diggs) will see this thread and give his two cents. He has the carpet cleaning down with the pressure washer. Here is a pic of his Supra:

You can always wait for Stanley Steamer to run a $99 special. I did this once. They did a great job and I didn't end up with a back ache

I have done it all. THe resolve and a stiff brush works great. If it is dirtier, sometimes better to just pressure wash if you have the ability to dry it out. I definitely like the resolve for tough spots. I then just follow over with a vaccum and really pull up the carpet with some pressure.

I have always used simple green or super clean. Spray the carpet down with water, use a light mist of either cleaning product (a little goes a long way) Use a brush and scrub the carpet. I use one with a long handle like a boat deck brush so you arn't leaning over doing it. Spray with the hose it into the bilge. Cleans the carpet really good!

Almost all marine carpet is made of Olefin yarn. You can get pretty aggressive with this yarn. The key is getting out all the cleaner you put on. I now have a boat with snap out carpet. One of the best features of the boat. After a trip with the old boat to Lake Powell I had to clean the carpet with diluted chlorine. No loss of color and killed the mold smell.

thanks guys. i'll give the resolve a shot and suck it up with the bissel. i'm hesitant to use the pressure washer just because of the mess and having to dry it out for so long.

With carpet cleaner, less is better. Hot water cleans better than cold. Lots of friction on olefin can melt the carpet.

Forgot the nylon brush. Works well with a cleaner for tough spots.
