Ok so my new boat has the base stereo package for the VTX, which is 4 speakers, a sony head unit, and no amp or sub.

I'm not a stereo junky, and don't want to drop a grand on these two components, but do want something to give my speakers a little more drive and a sub to round them out. Now later when I put pro60s in I will be looking for a higher end amp for them, but right now I just want a little more power to enjoy my music without breaking the bank anymore than I already did buying the boat.

This seems like it would be a good amp to run 75 watts to each of the 4 interior speakers and then 300 watts to a sub.

I have also heard good things about the Image Dynamics Id subs. Here is one for pretty cheap.

400 to 600 watt 4 channel amp and a 10 in sub and box would be around $600.

Amps I recommend in the lower cost arena (Kicker, Crossfire, HiFonics)
Subs (Kicker C10, or Polk db10)

All can be found on ebay very cheap.

If you were local, i've got a good JL 10w3 with MTX mono block amp, and box, that i'd let go in the $150 range. Add wires and install, and you'd be in business.

I'm currently running 2 10w3's in my Response LXI and am happy with it for a budget system

$150 sounds good, I'm wanting to stay under $500 if possible. Got quoted $700 for rockford amp and sub from malibu

How about either of these Hifonics amps for $170 and the other 140. They would do 85 watts to each interior speaker and 340 to a sub.

Here is a kicker CVR 10" dual 2 ohm VC sub for $80. That gets you an amp to run the 4 speakers and sub plus the actual sub for under $250. I bet it would sound just fine for most people.

some good advice here, but i would add maybe just hang in there with what you've got until you can afford what you want and do it right the first time. i wasted quite a few bucks replacing amps and speakers in my last two boats until i was happy. that said, i know what it's like not wanting to wait. :-)

Dont buy Kicker from cheap @$$ internet sellers, they are not new and dont have factory warranty.

I would highly recommend the Kicker MX700.5 5chnl amp and the Comp VR 10" DVC 4 Ohm sub. The mx700.5 will deliver 70 watts to each of your 4 in-boat speakers and 420 watts to the sub.

I second the Kicker products.

And FYI Sonicelectronix.com is an authorized internet dealer for Kicker. At least that is what it says on Kickers Website

I've bought lots of stuff from Sonicelectronix.com over the past 5 years, and it's always been brand new stuff. Their customer service isn't always great, their shipping cost is a bit on the high side, but their prices are always great.

I think I';m going to look into kicker amps, and if I can get them reasonable enough I may even buy a wetsounds sub.
