I keep reading and hearing about how many problems there are with pensions. In San Diego, it's been a major issue for years, financially. There are complaints about unions demands for too much in pensions, in general, helping to put companies and governments under.
This article just came up about the issue:
http://news.yahoo.comhttp://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/us_pension_shortfall_study When are we just going to do away with pensions? They obviously don't seem to be working for many reasons. (don't get me started on some of the unions out there). In my opinion, it's time to shift to 401ks with government/company contributions. You then leave more responsibility up to the individual on how much to put in and how conservative/risky they want to invest the money.
