"yeah-----------, i'm jealous."

yeah-----------, and wrong.

If you could see the convergence of the ropes, you could see the tow point. That would be the biggest fish-eye lens I've ever seen. Next time, you should think before you try to call someone out for posting a fake picture.

sarcasm... Hello?

Now I'm stuck trying to decide whose post is scarier, Mossy's or Lance's. At least Lance has an excuse, being that he was edumacated 'tween the hedges.

Just for the record, I don't really believe that any of those shots were faked...
except maybe Arun's.

Ill grab a sequence photo of justin abbotts Toeside 313, it as big as that and a trick only himself and Craig O'Meara can do.
Old     (cam)      Join Date: Aug 2003       08-19-2004, 8:04 PM Reply
Here is the sequence.
I did edit the post above to say "a trick only a few people can do"
Last I heard it was just Justin and Craig though

Old    afxsguy            08-19-2004, 8:28 PM Reply
the rope is always at the same angle ^^^^

im not saying it's not real... but is it because you moved the guy out horizontally so see more frames of the trick at once?

Wow...and i havnt heard of this guy.....
Old     (cam)      Join Date: Aug 2003       08-19-2004, 9:18 PM Reply
Its just how the rope looks.
Think about it, you cant see the anchor point, so as it moves right to left, so will the rope.
In this case the photographer was sitting on the passenger side of the boat, thats why the rope tends to straighten as it goes to the left of frame

Here is another sequence edited the same way.
All the horizons are lined up and you cut out the parts you need to complete it.
Its just about impossible to get an image, and not use part of the background.

As for who it is, his name is Justin Abbott.
He never really does all that well in comps cause he tries to go too big all the time.
He finished top 8 in the australian pro tour last year, and 9th this year I think (against daniel watkins, josh sanders, ike, jeff weatherall, dean smith, scottie broome etc)
Josh, Daniel and Ike, all have a few tricks they go huge on, but Justin goes huge on everything.
He is one of the people who can be credited with teaching Mark Kenney how to ride.

well... it isnt one picture.. so as the shots are taken over a short short period of time.. the shot changes... so wouldnt you have to choose one background and just put the next shot of the rider over one single shot of everything else... otherwise it would b blurry? rite?.. thats confusing but does anyone understand what im sayin?
Old     (kevin_bird)      Join Date: Dec 2002       08-19-2004, 10:48 PM Reply
first of alll the sequence of justin abbots is actually not a toeside 313 it is called a 90210 and also a few people have done them including mark mcnamara, mark kenney, i also heard rumors of kenney taking it to 540. but that is definately the biggest 90210 i have ever seen that is sick

Old     (cam)      Join Date: Aug 2003       08-20-2004, 2:27 AM Reply
curt - one shot just fits the towable slider in, so to get that sort sequence you need to stitch at least four different shots to get the width (you shoot portrait for those, not landscape)

kevin - Yes we know Mark called it a 90210. But if you had been doing a trick for ages before someone else came along and named it, that sorta gives you the right to still call it a Toeside 313 if you wish. Even if that wasnt the case, is a Slim Chance not a Front Mobe because its called a Slim Chance?

The only people to ever land them is Justin Abbott, Craig Omeara, Mark McNamara, Mark Kenney. As far as we know, nobody else in the world has claimed to have landed this trick

Justin Abbott doing a Crow Mobe.

There is a story behind this.
He tried it for the first time in Japan in a demo with Shapiro and Shane Bonifay. He stomped it, landing it first time. When he come back into the dock Shapiro said "Dude, that was the biggest f'ing thing I have ever seen"
This was one of the biggest complements Justin could ever ask for coming from someone he looked upto for so long.
He can land them behind the boat on call when freeriding, but when it comes to competition, he seams to always fall on this trick.

If you read wakeboarding mag from a few issues ago, there is an interview with Dean Smith.
You will notice he mentions Jusso in there.

You can also see an interview with Justin in the current Boarder Magazine (www.boardermagazine.com) as well as UK Wakeboard and Waterski magazine.
