which boat and why?

2005 23' Mailbue Wakesetter LSV 500hrs, quad ballast vs. 2006 Nautique Air 220 200hrs. Anyone have experience surfing regular side on both? does the wrong prop rotation on the 220 matter? which one has better surf wake with stock ballast? any other comments assuming similar price which one and why?

From my understanding the Malibu and Nautique are more oriented towards wakeboarding. This once again is just my opinion, but if you are serious about primarily surfing a Tige or Centurion may be what you want to look in to if possible.

i much prefer the Malibu wake over the nautique on the regular side. I have a friend with the LSV and he runs a custom sack(wake makers has the dimensions for it already) and about 400lbs of lead. super clean and solid wake.

I second Bryce. If your primary sport will be wakesurfing, look at MB, Tige or Centurion. Neither of these boats will be exceptional wakesurf boats and both have lousy stock ballast wakes. Yes, the reverse prop rotation does matter for regular foot surfers.

I ride a 220 and it seems hard to get a great regular wave out of. The goofy wave is really nice. I have tried lots of weight configurations and it never really got that big. It was surfable and fun still though. The 23LSV is a deeper V boat and with some hidden weight it should throw a pretty good wave on both sides.

Deeper V equals better surf wake. Check out a Supreme V226 to go along side that Tige or Centurion for a lot less $$$

if you are not wanting to really load the boat with weight, def focus on deeper v boats that require a lot less ballast. I had malibu's before my centurions and they are great boats, but the more our crew started surfing and less wakeboarding, we started to get tired of all the bags to get an OK wake. good luck. oh, unless you can find a bu 247, the 247 has a killer surf wave. good luck

I have a 2006 220.....the prop rotation for the 2006 SA220 actually makes the "regular" side better than the goofy. - To make the best wake with this boat, Fill stock port & center ballast, then add 400 sac in rear locker, tube sac in center locker, Ingrated bow sac under front seats (This will give it a super long pocket) and put people along port side.....This will make it amazing!
