A. LA County Sheriff's are notorious d**kwads.
B. I have no idea why they were even in his house.
C. why couldn't he just tell them he fell down the stairs, and there is no reason for them to be here, but thanks for your concern.
D. Why was he trying to get up from the couch to go to bed, while they were still in his house?

I do think this was excessive, but I have a feeling, we are missing a HUGE chunk of the story.

one thing I did find amusing, was the Sheriff's repeatedly saying "stop resisting, stop resisting". it reminded me of Seth Rogan in Superbad.

one more thing. the video said he was 64. I did not think you were a senior citizen till you turned 65? more liberal media BS?

haha. cops.
"stop resisting" i have never been hit with a taser but i bet if i were 64 and a cop hit me with one the only thought that would be going through my mind is OH F*@K! then it would smell terrible in that room.

Well it is not just LA cops. It seems that quality of law enforcement is digressing rapidly and cops everywhere are really over reacting to most situations. The use of force to control citizens is getting way out of hand. We just had a church pastor shot and killed by a cop who parked an unmarked car on the pastors property and the pastor came out to see what was going on. No answers from the police department yet because the cop left town on a vacation. I am starting to fear the police department far more than I fear any of those criminal types that I am paying them to be protecting me from.

Guns don't kill people... Criminals and cops kill people, and it's getting harder and harder to tell them apart.

I witnessed something similar-
Helping a friend work on his A/C unit out side and his wife comes out yelling at him about a stereo remote being lost. She was menopausal( we found out later) and not the person I've known for 20 years... No question something wasn't right with her. They find the remote, she continues with her fit and throws the remote she was so irritated about at him then runs off to their bedroom crying. I'm standing there in a state of shock not knowing whether to leave or hit the fetal position when we hear what sounds like a wrecking ball in the back of the house- she's throwing things around.
He calls the police and explains the situation, they told him they'd send an officer right out. My buddy walks over to the fridge and stares into it for a bit.. pulls out a bottle of beer with the label washed off. He says:" I'm glad I kept this, I could really use it right now"..It had been in his fridge since our last camping trip about 4 months ago- my buddy doesn't drink.
Fast forward almost 3 hours..
His wife was worn out and sleeping from her fit, we were at the table talking when the doorbell rings. He looks at me shaking his head and smiling- I knew he was thinking how this is now just a waste of time. I answered the door and two uniformed officers(male and female) walk in. They're standing in the hallway facing the kitchen table blocking my entrance so i just stood behind them waiting since I knew their stay would be brief.

Officer: What's going on?
Buddy: I don't know my wife hasn't been herself lately, blah blah.. started yelling... blah blah she wouldn't calm down so I called you guys.
Officer: Where is she now?
Buddy: Nah, she's sleeping in the room now that she's worn herself out.
he points the female to the bedroom. She walks back observes the wife sleeping and comes back.
Officer: She made a mess in there...
Officer 2 to officer 1: She okay?
Officer 1: Yeah, she's sleeping.

Officer 1: How much have you had to drink today, sir?
Buddy: He chuckles: I don't drink very often, but this is it- He lifts the bottle to show them.

Now, I forgot about the beer, but when he lifted the bottle I noticed it was well over half full..

Officer: 1 beer, huh?
Buddy: Not even one beer.. Things are okay now, if she gets out of hand again I'll call you.
Officer: We're here now so let's settle this while we're here. We're not coming back... I'm going to ask you again, sir.. how many beers have you had?
buddy: What? *snicker* I told you.. not even a full bottle. Look, I appreciate you coming out, I could have used you 3 hours ago, but whatever...thanks for coming.
He was hinting it was time for them to go.

Officer: We're not leaving until you answer my question... How much have you had to drink today?

Buddy: What is this about? I called you... there is no longer a problem. I am in my house and if I want to drink 20 beers I can do that. What difference does it make? I've been nice, but now I'm telling you to leave.. i do not need you here questioning me.
Officer: Stand up...
Buddy: What? Just leave, you're not welcome here...
Officer: I said stand up..
Buddy stands up and sighs...
Officer 1 grabs buddy by the back of his hair while officer 2 sweeps his feet out from under him smashing his cheek into the white porcelain tile-blood splatters. They cuff him and haul him away.

Talk about awkward.

They charged him with disorderly conduct, assault on a police officer, threatening a police officer, drunk in public and something else I can't remember. I saw the police report, they said he was belligerent, combative.... cursing.. they said he threw a beer bottle at them, stood up and charged the female officer.

I couldn't believe it. Bunch of thugs in uniform.

Cops get a lot of toys to play with in a given fiscal year.
Those toys don't get deployed often enough then maybe we'll reassign them to somebody who will.
'nuff said.

My father who was a cop in the 50s and 60s had a night stick, and a gun, when I was growing up he always took the side of the cop no matter what the circumstances were. When he sees cops use tasers for pretty much in offense, now he calls them pus*ys. (Boy how times have changed). They've made it too easy to control people even when they don't need controlled.

Barry.... I'm completely against lawsuits, but I hope your buddy filed one. I know some great cops and I completely support our local police departments, but stories like this make me sick to my stomach. "Protect and Serve" my A$$. That's total B.S. We pay their salaries to keep us safe not to support their egos. It's too bad so many of them apparenlty were beat up in high school.

Maybe he was reaching for his gun and accidently used the taser?

Barry, that sucks...

But I'm curious why he called the cops on his wife in the first place?

Wes,
I guess they were going through some issues related to her 'change of life' and for awhile this was a common occurrence(the raging fits). There's a lot to the story that I didn't share because it would make the story way too long. For example, the night before she grabbed a golf club as took a swing at his head in front of the house over a broken jar(unloading the car). I guess menopause really messes some women up.. You'd never ever think she has the ability to be violent or even bitchy if you met her. They're still happily married.

Man, those tasers work pretty good!

Just for a little info, If someone calls 911 for medical aid or the reason is not clear to the operator why 911 is called, sometimes everyone is sent. Ambulance, fire and police. If it is determined to be only a medical problem prior to police arrival, they are usually cancelled by medical personnel.

The deputys showed up after med aid was rendered, so probably there was a request for police to continue or nobody cancelled them. They can go in.

If the taser is out and pointed, AND the deputy is telling the man he is going to get an eval, somebody has already determined this guy is gonna go into protective custody. Probably the deputy, because he is likely the only one there who can make that call.

At that point at least, old guy is not free to do what he wants and is wilfully disobeying several commands to comply...... ZAP-ZAP!!! Hands off custody that doesn't impede the officers or get them hurt like spray, or wrestling matches, and doesn't hurt the old guy like wood does.

Sounds like there might be more to the story, but right or wrong when you don't do what the po-po tell you, bad things can happen. Id be curious to know what got the deputy to the point he felt old guy need an eval, cuz the taser prolly only came out when things were deteriorating

"Id be curious to know what got the deputy to the point he felt old guy need an eval"

The old guy had the audacity to actually stand up for his rights and tell the trespassing cop to leave. He should have known that here in the Socialist USA that you don't have rights anymore and you must kiss the butt cheeks of anyone in or connected with our government because they always know what is best for us.

^^ true.

Many of them get irate if a citizen stands up for himself and doesn't cave in.
I was pumping gas on Christmas on my way home from the Bay Area with my wife and daughter in the car, twas about 9:30pm. A CHP rolls up beside me at the pump, we make eye contact, I smile and nod. He rolls down his window:

Him: How ya doing?
Me: Good, Merry Christmas..
Him: Whatcha doin?
Me. Oh, getting some gas.. almost ran out on the highway.
Him: Where are you going?
Me: Home, just drove in to town.
Him: Where are you coming from?
I stopped and stared at him for a second-
Me: Is there something I can help you with?
Him: Yeah, how much have you had to drink tonight?
Me: I don't drink... Anything else I can help you with?
Him: SO, you never told me where you're coming from.
Me: That is correct, I never told you where I was coming from.
At that point I hung up the gas pump and put on my gas cap.
Him: You need to be heading home...
I ignored him and walked inside to get my change.
Came out and he was still there, but had moved to the other side of the pump between me and my car.

Him: Did you hear what i told you? You need to go straight home..
Me: Is that an order?
Him: I'm telling you to.
Me: So, you're giving me an order to drive straight home?
Him: I am telling you to go straight home.
Me: Sir, I asked if you're giving me a lawful order.
Him: Am I going to have to hook you up tonight?
Me: for what? No, no.. I don't want to speak with you anymore... call your watch commander out here.
Him: If i see you out here again tonight I'm going to haul you in.
Me: **snicker** Call your watch commander and let's discuss it with him.
He drives away giving me the stink eye.

I wanted to drive up and down the street, but the family was tired and the wife wouldn't let me.

"Stop resisting" WTF? The only thing he was probably resisting at that point was ****ting his pants! I'm sorry but the two officers could have probably handled the old guy (injured no less) without the taser.

Bary, those are pretty crazy stories.

Please share more. The sherrifs out here in CC County are really aggresive also. That old guy never invited them into his house and asked them to leave. That should of been the end of it but I hope that guy sues them and wins alot of money. That was wrong on many levels.

There are many true heroes out there risking their lives to serve and protect, but unfortunately it would seem that most human beings simply cannot handle the "power" associated with a gun and a badge. I've been on the wrong end of a completely fabricated police report (almost 20 years ago) and it forever changed my view of police, government, and, unfortunately, people in general.

Alright,
My wife was pregnant with our second child and wasn't feeling well. She asked me to go to the store and get her some Tylenol at about 10pm. On my way up I see a city car going the other way as I'm crossing a small bridge. I see him turn around and come barreling back toward me with his lights and siren.. There was no place to pull over to the right, but there was a park to the left.. I pulled into the parking lot and he pulls in behind me.
I noticed that two people got out and came to the car, one on either side. The one on the passenger side was in plan clothes.

Him: License and registration(this was before the insurance law)
I've got my interior lights on and both hands on the wheel to make him comfy.
Me: My wallet is in my right rear pocket.. I have a concealed weapon permit behind my license and my pistol is on my right hip. What would you like me to do?

He freeking flipped! He drew his weapon and kept it low ready...

Him: Get your effing hands up.. get 'em up! you'd better not so much as flinch.
He directed me out of the car face down while he disarmed and cuffed me. By this time I'm crapping Twinkies wondering what's going on.He picks me up and pushes me face first onto his hood while holding my head down and frisking me. His was grabbing and pulling pretty hard and he crunched one of my testicles( sorry).. I jumped pretty bad.. things blurred for a couple of seconds, he got me good, but then uncuffed me.

Him: Where's your wallet?
Me: My right back pocket...everything's in there... what's going on?
Him: Whatdya carrying a gun for, you bangin'?
Me: I'm going to the store to get my pregnant wife some Tylenol, she's not feeling well... what's going on?

He grabs my wallet, takes out my DL and registration, but doesn't see my concealed weapon permit.

Him: Where's your permit? I don't see it.. you don't have one do you, punk?
He starts dropping the contents of my wallet on the ground in front of him.

I told him if he handed me the wallet I would find it for him.. so, he throws it at my chest! I wasn't ready for it and it fell in front of me.
Him: Pick it up..
I picked up the wallet and I didn't realize it until that point but I was shaking like crazy and I could not master my fine motor skills.. my fingers kept slipping off the permit I was trying to pull out.
He's badgering me the whole time:

What's the matter, buddy? let me guess.. you must have left it at home.. right?
Did you dog eat it? You're going to jail..We don't let thugs run our streets.
He looks at the other guy standing on the curb and they both chuckle. I got my permit out and handed it to him...

Him: Don't move!
He looks at the other guy, nods and goes around the door of his car to the radio. I asked the other guy if I could sit on the edge of the curb in front of the car.. he said he didn't care. I sat there for what seemed like 1/2 hour. The officer comes back with all of my paperwork and hands it to me. His demeanor was completely different..

Him: Thank you for being cooperative, sir.. Here's your gun, do me a favor and don't load that thing until you see us drive off, please.
He hands me my pistol and magazine with a loose cartridge.

I was dumbfounded.. He was Jekyll and hyde.

Me: Do you mind telling me why you pulled me over in the first place?
Him: yeah, you have blue headlights, but I'm not going to write you for them.
Me: What?!?? Blue headlights?
Him: Turn 'em on, I'll show you...
All three of us walk to the front of the car.. they both stare for a second.

Him: Well, I know I saw blue somewhere.. It must be your fog lamps.
Me: My fog lamps are yellow...
Him: I'm not going to site you for them.. have a nice night.
I went back and picked up all of the junk that was in my wallet and drove straight home.. wife never did get her Tylenol and actually gave me a bit of lip for being gone so long.

Barry your stories scare the crap outta me!

I've only dealt with the police a handful of times (speeding tickets, my car being stolen, etc...) but all times they were polite and respectful to me. I've had a few sheriffs be real d#*@s when doing 'boat inspections' though . I've yet to be pulled over now that I have a CWP and it worries me because I hope I get the right cop! But my buddy has been pulled over twice with his and both times it actually got him out of the speeding ticket. The cops started talking guns with him and were really cool and just told him to slow down.

I'm serious about having more, too.
The thing is I am a regular guy, as generic as could be. I don't dress weird, talk or act threatening.. I'm actually rather goofy and smiley! I've never been in any kind of trouble, no jail, never even suspected of a crime. I dunno..

I learned my rights later in life and I no longer wish to have any contact with law enforcement. If i have to I smile and I'm cooperative if the law requires it.. otherwise, I sit still with my mouth closed.
They are not my friend(s) and they are not there to help me.

The ironic thing is almost all my close friends are deputies or CHP.. My best friend who died in April was the Chief of police. I miss him dearly..

Terrible thing to say and exactly how I feel. Cops in Orlando, aggresive, menacing, belligerent. Steer clear. At all costs.Complete gang mentality,us against the criminal civilians.

Im 15 and me and a bunch of neighborhood friends were out playing tag in the dark (something we do on a regular basis) and someone calls the cops because we were being "suspicious", at this point I was tired and had broken off from the group of us and walking home. I turn the corner and 3 cops pull up and start questioning me.
Officer"You had anything to drink tonight?"
Me "No, I don't drink"
Officer "Your slurring the words sir. I"ll ask again have you had anything to drink tonight?"
Me "I already told you I don't drink."

Fast forward about 20 mins they keep asking me who i am and how much ive had to drink of if im high. They check my puples and shine all their spot lights at me and their flashlights. They make me follow their finger and touch my nose and all that good stuff. They don't believe that I'm not drunk or high. I don't have an ID on me and they don't believe that i lives like 5 houses away. They followed me to my house and went out to find all my friends.

Thing about this is a had not had anything to drink or smoke that night what so ever. I didn't explain how much of a douche bag all 3 of them were being very well, but a 15 year old kid you can probably understand that im nervous and scared so I "slur my words" a little not that im high or drunk. Im still pissed that they gave a 15 year old kid about 50 feet from his house a field sobriety test without even asking for a parent or guardian to come out or anything.

Obviously not as bad as Barry's stories but just shows cops in my area are douche bags to younger kids without even a probable cause.
