i shot this at my buddies shore house in mayland where the philadelphia residents have to go to ride. My buddy rob took one on the chin pretty good the other day. lemme preface this by sayin that we are riding in the chesapeake bay behind my buddies 1985 20' outbaord, tri hull, center console boston wailer without a tower.Isn't ideal wake boat but actually isnt the worst salom boat wake is pretty smooth and melow at ski speeds. i grew up skiing in maine during the summers i just got into wakeboarding for real this summer. anywho ... onto the faceplant enjoy !!

yea that was me the camera man saying that. he is a rugby player so he is used to getting decked from time to time. but that one put him down for a few. that was 1st run of the afternoon. he had to chill in the bow for bout 2.5 hrs after that fall. but to his credit he did get back out there at the end of the session

Were there bindings on the board as it flew through the air? Gnarly man.

wow cant believe u live near rock hall. no one knows where that place is. U should ride with my buddy next summer cause im actually moving to dallas this sunday. He was kinda bumed about not having someone to ride with regularly.

As for the bindings.. they stayed on his feet the plastic caps on the bolts ripped st8 off the metal part that screws in. bolts stayed in caps came off. just swaped bolts and board was str8. Which was good cause is his bro's board and they both have size 15 feet and i was the only other guy with a board and i have CT size 11.

Ouch, that looked gnarly. I had to rewind it, after the fall I thought "Wait, thought he was on a wakeboard, not a skate..." But nope, bindings really did rip off!

Man. I wish we'd got a few on video this year. We had some epic plants. You know they are good when you hear their body slap the water in the boat. I'm surprised no one got a concussion. We did have 2 blown ear drums and one cracked rib though. :-)

I took a worse one last Saturday and my neck is still jacked up! I faceplanted so badly that my underarms are bruised. I guess the momentum threw my arms over my head or something...I still can't figure out the bruises under both arm pits.

Anyway, that crash looked so crazy with a blank board flying through the air!

HaHa. Now we're wakeboarding. j/k, glad he's okay. What kind of bindings were those? Want to stay away from those as far as I can. Call me old, but I like my feet to release the old fashioned way, out of the binding, not ripped from the board.
Old     (chuckbutta)      Join Date: Oct 2009       10-08-2009, 9:39 PM Reply
not sure what the bindings were, but the actual bindings were fine . was the caps of the bolts that ripped off. the steel bolts were still screwed in the board, if you slow mo the impact you can see 2 black dots in the air. thats 2 of the 4 caps shooting into the air

His board must have gone 10-12ft into the air. Amazing! Glad he's all right.

that made my day, if it wasn't the crash the "he might be dead" comment was even better. WOW.

From the S-curves of the wake trail, it could only but help if his driver weren't pulling him like a tuber.
