So how weightless is this suppose to be? Got the new boat home, needed to get the tower down to get it in the garage, and the tower just came down. When I lifted it back up, it was heavy. Board racks were already taken off, have 4 tower speakers, but even in the cool videos showing off the tower, it stays up on its own. Anyone else have this issue before I take it in for service?

im not sure about the G3 but my illusion xs came with an easy lift cable system to counter weight anything on the tower. If the G3 has one it may need to be adjusted to the additional weight of the speakers.

check the gas struts. malibu makes a couple different ones based on how your tower is loaded. you may have ones that are for the racks and dont account for the speakers.

You are going to want to check the shocks in the base of the tower. They come in different sizes, and they also need to be connected after the boat has been shipped. It should be very easy to lift. It sounds like you either got the wrong shocks, or they are not hooked up. I would call your local dealer.

Thanks for the heads up. As far as the video goes, no where near that easy. Ill call and are what the dealer says. What dictates what shocks they use? Do you have to request?

they way your tower is loaded from the time of purchase dictates the shocks. after that you have to pay to up/down grade.

Well that sucks. Who would keep the lower rated shocks? Aren't racks and speakers standard? Well, sort of... =)

My G3 came with shocks that would hold the tower in place when the bolts were removed. I had to push it down to lower it, but it would stay down. This was with only the two standard factory racks. I added 4 JL speakers in aluminum cans and now the tower is heavy enough to need a little assistance (very little) to keep it from dropping too fast.
