Device Control for DV Editing question?

I have the basic IEEE 1394, DV FireWire Card, and of course my dv cam.

A couple weeks ago my PC had no problem detecting my camcorder. for some freeky reason, now it doesn't recognize it(NO CAPTURE DEVICE DETECTED). So I went and exchanged FireWire thinking this is probably the case. Nope. still nothing. The only other option I can think of it being is the Card is bad or the camera

. I hope not. But the camera still works just fine with everything else. I haven't exchanged my card yet. I called the company but no one answers.

Anyways, thanks for any help on the matter.

sometimes this happens to me.. like it will work but will pop up the "no device control" on me... so i just leave everything turned on, unplug the fire wire then re-plug it back in and it works. have you checked to make sure none of your setting magically got changed?

My friends camcorder firewire interface just stopped working. We had to test another camcorder to figure out where the problem was. My Sony is a little tricky - I have to plug the firewire cable into the camcorder and then pull it out just slightly or it doesn't work.

what was the end result of your fiends? I tryed what you did but nothing.
