So I jacked my prop yesterday loading the boat on the trailer after a great day, the bottom "stringer" is bent up from previous owner trailer abuse so when trying to drive it up the trailer the prop caught and zing $$$$$. I wouldn't mind getting this one fixed but here we are on prime boat season already and don't want to have her out of service for too long. and having a spare would be nice we will have the boat for the next 20 years hopefully

So I have 0 ballast in my boat, will probably build a 1500# system in the future.

I hear the Acme props are good, but which to get?? I'm sure this has been covered a thousand times but I couldn't find anything in articles and am not good at the search (ADD)

its a 13x13 on there now, pulled good out of the hole with 1500# the other day so I could stay with it but if a 4 blade will treat me better I need a new one anyways.

Also there's a 13x12.65 for sale on here thats a stock setup for a 215 for $150, sounds like a good deal and would cure my ailment but different pitch than my current one

also its a 06 v215 black scorp, I really don't understand what the #s of the pitch mean, and how they affect performance, so any know how or suggestions would be great,

Pitch is like the gear ratio on a truck. In the case of a boat the lower pitch means it moves the boat through the water less than a higher pitch. so a 12" pitch moves the boat 12" forward on one revolution and a 13" pitch moves it 13".
The engine on the 12" pitch turns over more times to go the same distance, compared to a higher pitch prop, so you feel like you have more power with a 12" than a 13" pitch.
What is your maximum RPM at full throttle when loaded light?
If you don't reach the engine's redline, then going to a lower pitch has few drawbacks. I suspect you are going to want a 12" pitch or less but on of the guys that runs a V215 will probably chime in with a good recommendation.
I don't think you need a four blade when you are in that pitch range. They help more when you are up in the 14" and above pitch.

I haven't got her much up to WOT but I'm guessing at 42mph its probably about 4500???

So I would probably be pretty safe going with the 12.65" stock 05 v215 prop thats for sale on the classifieds here?? I don't want to ruin the guys chances of selling it here so if anyone thinks its a bad idea please PM me so's not to bash his ad in public

Your Scorpion motor runs to 5200 RPM so you can prop for an extra 700 RPM if you can't get past 4500 now. You could go with an 11.5" prop without much problem. Your boat would feel like you had 370 Hp and it might hold speed a bet easier.

So if you are not running your potential rpms you lower the pitch on the prop? How would either or.affect your top end. Sorry don't want to hijack but my boat runs and pulls fine but at full throttle it only runs about 3800-4200 rpm. and only about 36 mph.

You are not running at maximum Horsepower if you are running at that RPM and you need horsepower to get more speed. George, if you go with a lower pitch prop you would improve your starts and probably raise your top speed.

ChiliDog ~ I run the Acme 13x12.625 on my V-210 with the Black Scorpion. You should be fine dropping from a 13x13 that's only 3/8" lower pitch, you may not even notice the difference.

Yeah I need to lower the pitch then because I put heads cam an intake on the motor and I am not getting all of my power out. its a 351W and with the upgrades I am figuring about 350 hp.

Can a prop shop re-pitch a prop or do you have to buy a completely new prop?

Get ahold of Karl at I just ordered a new prop for my V215 and his knowledge, service and prices are the best by far.

A Prop Shop repitch could never be as efficient a prop as a new CNC machined one.
