I am looking for a beginner wakeboard for my 8 year old. He is a slalom skier, but has never wakeboarded before. I don't know anything about wakeboards or bindings.....I also have a six year old who would like to learn as well. HELP.

if you're teaching the youngins how to wakeboard i say the hyperlite motive 128, with any bindings they find comfortable

The liquid force nemesis comes in every size you would need not to mention the liquid force micro and junior bindings are the best. Check them out

The kids size Hyperlite Motive only comes in a 109 or 119. My 10 year old used the 119 motive this year and it worked out okay. Boot sizes don't get smaller then 3. If I did it again I would probably get the Liquid Force kids board package because I think the bindings are better.

I don't know much about the kids boards from LF but they have some super supportive and cushy bindings. Go with Liquid Force!

I would get the liquid force nemesis most i think the 109 is a good size. I learned on the nemesis its a great board to learn on.

My son rides a Juvi 131. He is 9 now & has been riding this board about two years. The bigger board is a stabler platform But at a higher speed to give him a better wake it wants to bounce. He should be on smaller board ,But he can't ride as long so he likes to ride larger.,( He can ride my Murray 140 with ease but is way large for him to turn over)

If it's to large & they can't turn over the board if they go in face first.

Stacey, How much does he weigh? This will help with the board sizing alot. If he is taller and weighs a little more I would probably suggest the 125 or 130 state....his weight would help a lot....

Cheers,

Everybody has the right idea. Hyperlite Motive or Liquid Force Nemesis. I would not go larger than the 119 on the motive or the 118 on the nemesis.

i dont know if this will help you. but my cousin who is 8 and weighs like 60 lbs. rides my old synergy 137 with the bindings all the way in. its a full size board. but it works for him. he doesnt come out very often so its not worth buying him a full set up. just thought id share. good luck!

118 or 119. Both your kids could still use the 118/119 for at least 2 years. The Motive 119 goes up to 105 lbs, the Nemesis 118 probably has the same weight range.

Both my kids (4.5 & 6) learned on the Motive 119 a few years ago. The 4.5 is now 6.5 and is riding the 119, my 6 is now 8 and is riding a 125 but he still rides the 119.

For a 6 yrs old anything larger than a 119 will be too big and heavy.

David made a very good point about being able to turn the board over once they fall in the water.

look for an old hyperlite era. They used to make it in a 124. Good all around board

What do you know about the CWB surge?

My 10 year old learned on a Motive 128 (yes they do come in a 128) with Spin Mini bindings. It's lasted him 2 years and still in great shape. Last summer we got him LF Sphinx bindings since his feet grew out of the minis. He's getting a CWB Kink 134/Vapor package for xmas but he doesn't know it ('08 closeout at Evogear).

My bro learned on a CWB Surge. It's pretty basic. Also very stable.
