Hi, I saw a few photos on here that I am hoping someone has saved or remembers the link to. I have a collection of a bunch of these, but it would be enormously appreciated if I could get these ones too: 1. The SPY Optic Super Air Nautique sitting on the beach. 2. The guy stting on a recently submerged X-Star - photo looks like it was taken from a bridge. Boat is not fully underwater. 3. Sunken Sky Supreme (I think), all you could make out was the outline of the tower. Very clear water, perhaps was in salt water.

even as water can get really rough here I'm yet to figure out a way to sink a boat. how do you do that????

You let more water get into the boat than the bilge can pump out and presto! Let me know if you want me to show you how, using your boat of course.

At Powell in the channel or even Mead I think you can sink any boat pretty easily, just get caught in the wrong storm at the wrong time.

Let me fill my ballast (1800lbs) and 4 people in my bow 5/6 in the main seating area...I bet I could sink my boat (22SSV)or come close in rough lake conditions.

I think I've heard this one, Malcolm. Is the punchline that the Aggie couldn't jump out of the back of the truck in time because he couldn't get the tailgate open? (Message edited by hal2814 on July 05, 2006)

try powell or mead on a windy day. Either are capable of sinking any ski boat, even with an experienced driver

What would make an otherwise seaworthy boat sink during a storm at Lake Powell? What kind of storm are we talking about? I mean - it isn't the wild atlantic after all. Are there more details to that story? Or can it really get that bad on large lakes? I must have it better than I thought. (Message edited by juniorhawk on July 05, 2006)

The waves in the channel at Powell can get huge! I have seen 40'+ houseboats go down in an afternoon storm at Powell. The channel at Powell is just plain nasty, although Mead is worse.

can anyone post a pic or video while getting through a "bad" storm or something that can give a hint of what you're talking about?? because in my river there is this huge channel and things can get pretty nasty sometimes, but I never felt we were close to sink. thanks again

We had the truck, trailer and boat start to roll back on our ramp once. The driver jumped out without it in park and the handbreak let go, a few of the crew started to panic but luckly I had the motor going in the boat and I just pushed the truck, trailer & boat up the ramp using the boat motor. Didn't even dip the tailgate, nice one.

My buddy and I sank a Centurion Falcon on the Delta. It had a low profile, and a full fatseat in it. It sank because one of the water lines came off the motor, and filled it full of water. Lake Tahoe can get like an ocean with 5' swells. It will easily sink a comp boat, espically if your unfamiliar with big water. DK

My intake came off last year and filled the back of the boat up with water. Thank god for limp mode.. as the motor heated up, the limp mode kicked in and the boat slowed to a stop. I opened the engine cover and water was flowing in heavy. Turned it off, put the hose back on, tightened the clamp and waited for the engine to cool a bit all while the bilge was working overtime. Double-check those clamps! I now have two clamps instead of one!

Hey Dan i agree 100% about Tahoe. A few years ago my brother, dad and i took my old glastron out to tahoe to go fishing. We got there during the mid day and looked a little choppy. We decided to try it anyways. As soon as we got on to the lake it got bad. 4-5' swells. It was the craziest thing i have ever seen. I think i was on the lake for less than 15mins. LOL. I drove 6+ hours to go fishing and i was only on the lake 15mins. We ended up going to reno and gave all of our money to the casinos.

This is probably about the most depressing thing I've seen in a long time. Like a train wreck, I wanted to look away but couldn't. Actually, thanks for the reality check of what can go wrong. (Though I'm still not going to show this to my wife - she already worries a bit too much)

The above picture of the Toyota Epic Sx (purple and yellow with the tower lights still on) was sunk at Powell, it was my brother-in-law. It got caught in a nasty wind storm just off the boat ramp at Hal's Crossing, about 80mph winds. The damage to the houseboat moorings and other boats was so extensive that the Toyota sat underwater for two days before they had time to crane it out. How did it happen- unavoidable, and luckily for my I was sitting on the dock having just trailered my Toyota. One of the wind gusts threw up a wave that literally white capped over the starboard side bow and driver's area. It just sort of swamped. Never got deeper than in the pictures, so at least we know Toyota's are floaters. I think the empty hard ballast tanks held air to help keep it afloat. The engine seized at the mechanics after it was removed from the lake, insurance deemed total loss, and now he has a another SX. We will be at Powell from the 11th to the 18th, so if the winds pick up, I'll get a picture to send in. ALthough we'll be waiting out the storm in one of the thousand coves this time.

The first two pictures posted of the Centurian about 20 feet under are from a party spot up here in Washington. They are Kirk's photos and I'm quoting him on what happened: "The wind picked up in the afternoon. The Centurion was headed into the swells, took a roller over the bow, flooded the boat, turned sideways and took another over the side. The pictures are from the following day. No one was hurt luckily... "

I don't know the exact story, but it seems like that Supra pic was posted last year in relation to a boat collision incident that killed a little girl or something. Anyone have the real backstory?

I guess I'm not up on all the Aggie jokes (and I don't want to start a war here either), but there is the possibility that the sticker was photoshopped OUT of the window on that website. It's easier to photoshop out then in.
