So I did a search on wakeworld and I found alot of threads but I just couldnt find the one that would help me out...

So right now we have a crappy hyperlite wakesurf and I think we need to find something that is going to help us advance a little faster and we want spend less than $200. So I started shoppin for skimboards :-)

so..... heres the question:

my weight is just over 200lbs and im 6'2" what size skimboard would be right for me?

a good skimboard costs just as much as a good wakesurfboard. IMO trying to cut costs too much is only going to result in another crappy board

^^^^^I agree with this. It stinks, but good wakesurf boards are expensive.

I have an expensive Phase 5 board that I like, but I still enjoy riding my Hyperlite Broadcast. Which model do you have that you are calling crappy?

What's up Simon? Are you around town? PM me sometime. Pinewskis will demo the LF Custom, Miswest MC will demo any Phase5. I have a Inland Surfer 4-skim you can borrow. Ebay TripleX brand has a lot of more inexpensive models.

I have gotten some really good skims on ebay for wakesurfing for under $170. The big ones (54"+) go quick though.

wakemikey hows it going man? hows the sunsport doing? I will have to look into that! I have rode the liquid force custom and I liked it but i thought that i would get something more like a skim.

hey ryan do you think that I would be able to ride a 50 or do you think that would be to small? I was thinking about getting this one:

I ride a 52" skimstyle board and I weigh 150. Anything smaller than that and I'm fighting to stay with the wake more than actually surfing it.

My brother rides a 48 and he is 185lbs, I don't really like it but he does. It's finless as well. I'm 165lbs and the 54" was perfect. Lost it though/ stolen......

First one looks a little small for you at 200lbs. It is fairly narrow as well.

I would go for the second one. Keep in mind that you will need traction and will have to drill a fin hole and get a fin that will match with the shape of the bottom. Whisky militia has good deals on traction pads once in a while, I always buy 3 at a time.

This is the 48 soft top finless one, rider is about 160lbs.

also keep in mind that after you buy the traction and fin, you're really only saving about $100 for something not made for wakesurfing and taking the chance of it coming out wrong. The tip and and tails of a lot of boards aren't true center and if you mount the fin as if they were you're board is going to track weird.

and if you do go DIY make sure you properly seal the holes or the PU core will retain water and your board will turn into a brick.

Good boards might be expensive but for the most part you are getting what you paid for.

edit: btw , I'm making my recommendations based on this part of the OP
"we need to find something that is going to help us advance a little faster"

I have the Inland Surfer Black Pearl Yellow. I am 6'2, 190 and the board is great. It has a VERY similar shape to the Broadcast, but that is where the similarities end. It's faster and way more responsive. I can spin it easily and shuvs seem way easier as well.
