Ok, Im looking at a tower speaker setup. We're only going to run 2 speakers currently on a MC X-10. First question, could we push the 2 6.5's off of the factory clarion amp, or should I run a second one? The speakers im looking at are the Kicker K60 6 1/2. They push 90db , Frequency Response 43-20K, RMS Watts 6-90, peak watts 130. Now the amp im looking at is the Kicker KX 150.2 (2 channel), 30 watt x 2 or 144 x1. 72 Watts x 2 @ 2 Ohms. Will that amp be sufficient to push those speakers? Are those speakers or the amp a piece or crap? Any advice would be great!!!

Kicker is middle of the road stuff... good for boats in my opinion cause its not too pricy but sounds decent. With 2 6.5 wired in paralell and that amp your gonna have, you'll see 30 watts to each which is kinda low for tower speakers but I'm not positive how effiecient those speakers are so it could be enough. If it was me I would up it to about 60-70 watts per speaker, then you know they would be loud!!!

60-70 watts won't do much better than the 30. I would run the 30 watt amp and wire it in paralell as well. The general rule i've learned when deciding what amp to run is basically if you want to double your sound... quadruple(sp) your power. I would be more concerned with things like signal to nois ratio, frequency response and other things than the overall power.

I have an 01 X-10 and I have the bazooka tower speakers and the 4 speakers in the boat on the stock amp. I put another punch amp in to push the sub. I also had to install a fan above the amps to cool them off. Without them they would overheat pretty quick. The only place to put those amps is int that compartment and it gets real hot in there. But with the fans they seem to do good. I don't know much about the techincal side of stereo systems but mine is pretty loud and we have a lot of fun with it. I also really enjoy the 4 tower speakers (2 forward 2 back) as well. when parked and parting hard they come in handy for those in the front of the boat.
