Pulled boat out of garage for first time this season. Ran everything that I could run. Terrible from driveshaft when boat was put in gear on flusher. Is this because the packing gland has dried during storage? If so, will the noise go away when boat is launched and the gland gets saturated again? This is my first unwinterizing of this boat so it is all new to me. Thanks.....

Patt, It's a bad idea to put the boat in gear when it's out of the water. Water acts as a lube for the packing so what you heard was the shaft squealing from running it dry..

Thanks Walt, I hope that's all it is. I just put it in gear quick enough to make sure both F and R work before hittin the water. I'd hate to get out there and find out it wasn't working. Now all we need is some warmer weather to heat up the river.
