Ok so my friend has a 2005 Malibu VLX; we want to make the pocket longer... Let me know what you think... In this pic there were seven people about 1000 lbs of stock ballist filled and a 350 sack up front and a 550 on the rear/side seat(behind driver) Upload

nice wake, put either a 750 or a 600 (whichever you can fit. on the surf side seat, and it will make your pocket nice and long. my friend ran 2 750's in the rear, 600 on the seat, and 250 in the bow, plus stock center and nose ballast, and the wedge in his 06 and the wake was ridiculous. here is a shot of it

ok i just noticed you said you had a 550 on the seat, i guess the only other thing he had was 1 more 750 under the seat that ran into the rear v-drive compartment. the guy in the photo is 6 foot tall as well, just to give some persepective on the size of that wave

Look at the wake that Sean Ward Posted - that's on a VLX and looks killer!

Darn, wrong thread. Look at the last in the set, that looks like a heck of a wake.

Loc, I can't say that I like what I see. The wake looks very tall but darned short, maybe it's just the camera angle.. I think you need weight up front. I like Sean's wake more.

We used an 06 VLX at the Scioto Wakefest last year. There wasn't a bad way to set up the wake. We ran wedge up a crew of abort 8 or 9 and a 800 pound sack.

It is short looking, but I believe that's heavily due to the camera and the angle. The VLX is short though so it will never have a LSVesque pocket!

There's a 400 in the bow there with the stock bow ballast so that's 700+, I cannot afford to put anymore up there. It's grows and shrinks with crew, that is two people in the boat, when we have a full crew the wave is very nice.

Ah - another note on the view Ed,

Keep in mind I am on a surfboard, I am looking forward and down with the video camera, that's a 58" board I am on, so picture how far I am back, I am holding the video camera at probably 65" vertically, and I am on the wave! So that's largely perception due to angles.

You're right though, that thing looks steeper and I might be misrepresenting the VLX wave capabilities.

Maybe I should have filmed it from a tube and not a surfboard?

I've ridden the VLX surf wake as I said before, we couldn't make a bad wake.

I agree, looks like camera angle.
