Well thats gonna be hard, they aren't released yet. But a buddy of mine did try on Shanes prototypes and said they were really comfortable. (Message edited by kristian on September 22, 2005)

I called Liquid Force to ask about the differences between the '05 and '06 Sphynx and was told that basically the only difference was the '06 was going to have some red added to the white. Have to wait and see. Hope that's all it is. Just bought a pair of '05 Sphynx at a killer price.

IMO the 04 Sphynx's look much better than the 05.

Just checked the binding section and they added black also. I had to base my decision on fit. I have some seriously wide flintstone flyers. LF told me the Sphynx were more comfy for wide feet than the Teams. Had to take their word as I'm not close to a demo shop.

you've gotta check out the closed toe bindings from LF, they are supposed to make the board 25% more responsive because of the closed toe. and they're super easy to get into.

How does one quantify toe/heel responsiveness, let alone come up with figure like 25%? How in fact does a closed toe relate to response at all? Who is to say it only helps 13& or 9%, they found a number that sounded good and people might accept. Hooray science!! Dumbasses.

when you get on edge, your toes natrually come up, so by closing the toe area, when you get on edge and your toes lift up and press on the top of the boot the closed toe utilizes that pressure, and it adds to the pressure of the board being pressed into the edging position, there for increasing responsiveness

Stephan seriously, did you take your prozac today or what? Have you not got to ride for a while? going back to school got you down. I'm here for you man. I'm gonna have to agree with Big Hevz on this one. It might help noticeably, and even if it did you couldn't put a number value on it. DERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR! My toes don't come up. Think about skateboarding, do you lift your toes up to turn? NO! freaking of course not, you'd fall on your ass. Why would you do it on your wakeboard?

My brother has toenail fungus so it would be good to hide his nasty ass toenails. Of course I wouldnt be sharing bindings with him.

Yes he does. Good job getting rid of your fungus. That Lamisil commercial gives me bad dreams, then that little demon dude, opens up the trap-door toenail and just starts mackin'...UGH, it makes me shudder.

In order for a closed toe to be effective it has to fit like a glove, those numbers are BS like big heavy said. my transits nearly cover my toes. I don't know how much it is gonna help edging, they are already lifted off the board so much. Having that lift gives you a huge mechanical advantage as well...

Thane Dogg- but on a skateboard there is nothing pulling you (maybe why your toes dont come up??) whereas on a wakeboard you have the pull of the handle and constant tension and therefore can edge harder. I can see how when edging hard on your heelside edge how a closed toe would be more responsive.

I'm gonna have to, sort of, disagree with you there. I personally think they look cool, but don't add any type of performance advantage.

How about we just all wait to try them and not speculate too much, because until we do, we wont really know. Sorry for spoiling the fun.

I know that when I kiteboard and I'm edging hard heelside my toes do come up. As far as on a wakeboard, I usually don't look at my feet when I ride.

THE BENIFIT TO HAVING THE CLOSED TOES IS WHEN YOU LIFT UP YOUR TOES IT MAKES THE BOARD GO ON EDGE. AND I GOT THE NUMBERS FROM A REP. I CAN SEE WERE IT WOULD HELP. I TALKED TO A LOCAL PRO WHO ROAD SHANES NEW BOOTS AND HE SAID IT MADE A HUGE DIFFERENCE IN THE PERFORMANCE OF HIS RIDE. NORMALY WHEN YOUR TOES PUSH UP, THEY DON'T PUSH UP AGAINST ANYTHING, NOW WITH THE CLOSED TOE THEY HAVE SOMETHING TO PUSH UP ON UNLIKE THE OPEN TOE. BINDING COMPANIES PROBABLY DIDN'T ADD A CLOSED TO FOR NOTHING IM SHURE THERE ARE PERFOMANCE BENEFITS.
