I tried wakesurfing once last summer and loved it, so I just bought one. I was wondering if there was an article or another post someone could point me to about how to do it.

I was able to get up but couldn't drop the rope. I was behind an '03 Tigre and weigh about 170. I am just looking for some basic info like speed and other stuff. This summer i'll mostly be behind a '99 Mastercraft SportsStar with a ton of weight in it.

Any help help would be great.

Isn't your mastercraft a direct drive? From what I understand that is a big no-no riding behind a direct drive

You can ride behind a direct drive but no I/O.

try goin about 12 to 14mph and see how the wake looks, and remember front foot is gas, back foot is brake, if your falling out of the wake put your weight over your front foot, if your goin to fast, slow down by puting weight back, that is a good tip until you start to learn how to pump to go faster, and do turns to slow down.

Most boats the speed is about 10 -12 mph. Going faster will help make the pocket longer but you will lose size and size will really help with staying with the boat after you let go of the rope. What board are you trying to ride. At 170 some boards will not work well for you as you learn.
