liquid force rep told me the new boards are shorter and fatter. Using the fish concept....that is the direction that LF is going...New Soven board, new Bonifay board, and Watson for 2006. They also changed the fish.

I don't think I need that crazy offset, but having never ridden something like that who knows. I'd ride Soven's board for sure. People hate change - I'm sure the Substance fans will gag and possibly lose consciousness looking at that. Sidenote, I'm trying to figure out why all those dudes' signatures on that site are in English. Check out Marco's. LOL

i wonder how the new substance will feel finless? or if it's even made to ride finless, like it is now.

The pic of the bottom shows an offset fin but the on the top deck the screw holes for the fins are in the center of the board. Also if you enlarge the picture the board is not shaped like a normal substance. I think that it is an optical illusion and still has the fin in the center.

The Substance will stay the same in 06... the fins are set in the exact same place... all of you Substance fans can rest assured that we would never change that board... it works all too well! More 06 gear on the way... you guys will be stoked! Stay tuned... Thanks, Don

Don, If you are following this here's my humble opinion::: WIDER!!! The Substance (ridden finless) is the best board ever (for my style) because it is so consistent - the transition between being off-edge-loose to being on-edge-tight is seamless. I love the pop off the fish, but that transition is not as smooth because the fins are so abrupt. The subtle build on long molded fins locks on hardcore, but isn't so abrupt to do so - I think that's why people like the substance so well. Same molded-fin setup as the substance, but 2" wider, and maybe incorporate some sort of center spince like the fish to make it land softer. I'm pretty big - 6'6" 210# and really feel the difference in pop with a wider board - more surface on the wake = more lift!!! Also... I wouldn't entirely loose the length on a wider board - there's still a lot of pop, and a lot of control and forgiveness that comes from the length. Just my thoughts - I'm sure the 06 stuff is going to be sick, like always, but it is all about the evolution!!

Matt, I think that you'll love the PS3... Phillip Soven's new board. It actually encorporates a lot of what you're asking for. Thanks for the support! DW

don, i don't mean to disrespect, cause i like lf gear. hell, i even wrote a review of the team bindings. but, it looks like the new soven board is pretty similar to the older premier/newer era. what are the differences between the substance and the new watson board? i really liked the substance, but held off on getting one due to its somewhat hard landings. (my old knees can't take hard landings)

All the new bindings look like the old Collective Developement bindings. In my opinion. Is there an increase performance from the closed toe or something?

Other than color and and different seems, the 06 Alphas and Transits look almost identical. I would assume functionality would be similar as well.

toolfan, the '06 Alphas have molded heel and toe peices as well. The '05 Transits didn't have that, the LE's did though.

Just checked out the '06 Sphynx and realized they'll match my new Substance really well. I was leaning towards pickin up the '05 Sphynx's but may hold off till I get to wear these and see how they feel. :P

the '06 watson is supposed to be real similar to the substance but faster, deeper channels and a different tip/tail design. the graphics are supposed to be sick, too! i'm trying to get word on shane's new board, too. stay tuned.

saw and tried on the new watson and shane boots on this past weekend. Littery can put them on without hands. They kind of remind me of some burton snowboard boots i have, really supportive and damn comfortable, wasnt sold on the closed toe shanes( probally because their was only the one demo size available)but like the look of them, even though i was told they were going to change the design. Also saw the graphics for the watson and shane boards printed on their old shapes.

I rode the New Watson setup a cupple weeks ago and loved it. The bindings are by far the best ive ever riden. They are alot like the trasit's but more comfortable, they are tight yet flexible realy nice, plus there is a place for the long ass strings they alowayse put on their bindings. The board had an awesome edge that I was able to hold all the way threw, im a begining wakeboarder but the new board realy helped me gain the edge and pop I was lacking with my 05 GB.

the ps3 rides alot different than the old premier....its probably thge most fun i have ever had on a board and the day was non stop chop.....the double concave hull makes landings super soft and the turned edges make it spin like mad...
