Wake Board Boat purchase, please give some insight

After reading for days on end I am still at a crossroad as to which boat would be in my best interest.

After reading seems like the SANTE 210 is the boat to get. I have no more than 35k to throw at it.

Would it be best to get a 5-6 year old SANTE or a new MOOMBA, Supra, or something of the same sort.

I know I want a V drive, what are my best options, everything considered such as resale, reliability, WAKE, ....etc

Please help a n00b out. I am going to test drive a variety of boats this weekend. Should I stick to the SANTE or look for new???

At 35K, you won't find a new vdrive. You really can't go wrong with any of them, just make sure you test drive them to see what you like best for your needs. Picking a good dealer is key to if you are purchasing from one.

Go new and get a warrenty. I just bought a 2003 V230 and love it, however looking back I wish I had stepped up and bought brand new. Awesome deals out there right now. Better deals on used but all are worth looking at. Good luck

You can get a 1995 Super Sport for under $20,000. The super sport is the same hull as the SANTE 210, but it was geared as the family boat so it didn't come with the tower/perfect pass/ballast. But you can find them on the market will all of the wakeboard extras and still come out under $25,000 with low hours. Save the extra $10,000 to pay for gas/insurance/registration.

If this is your first boat do not buy new.

It is my first boat.... Used is probably what i will be doing, however a dealer said he would get me in a LSV with tower for 36k with trailer...

or a centrurion????

Decisions decisions.... i am going to test drive a few this weekend.

as a first time boat owner, a full factory warrant would be nice.

Dont forget tax and insurance. The more expensive the boat, the more expensive both will be.

Full warranty won't fix the dock rash or the bumps and dings we all go through learning the ropes of boating. Or when you're loading it up and the wind blows you into the trailer. or when you tie up with your buddy and roller jacks his boat into yours or vice versa. Or when your friends drop a board on the gunnel. Or when your anchor comes loose and you get blown into some rocks. Or when you beach it on some sketchy gravel.

Get a boat that fits your budget and keep in mind you will mess something up. Grab a manual for whatever you get and spend the weekend learning what is what on your boat. You'll never pay for "dealer service" again.

so... going used, whats the best options for 35k or under???

Shaun, are you new to boating too or this is just your first boat? If you are brand new to boating I would agree with nacho and maybe go used because if you are a first time boater with a v-drive - yikes! They are a little tougher to drive than an I/O and you may get some dock rash. If you're not new then maybe go for that LSV, they are nice boats for the $$$.

You could find a nice 01 or 02 x star, possibly even and 03 X2 for that price. If I had 35 K to burn that's what I'd be looking at.

Shaun test drive them and see what you like the best, you may be more comfortable in one brand vs. another. Who knows.

just got back from riding one. i think its a great boat for the price...

Who sells them, where do you get them serviced, is there dealers support? Who manufactures them? Will the manufacturer be around next year?

These are all questions that need to be taken into consideration.

I sell and service them in Nor Cal. If someone one outside of a dealer area wants one, as a consumer , they should check with the local dealers to see if they will service it. Same as they should with a used boat. Just because you buy a used boat that happens to be represented in your area, does not mean the dealer will service it. Choppers uses Mercruiser power plant, faria guages, morse controls, pro flight towers etc... So any centurion, sanger, supreme, dealer can service the boat if they so choose to.

Like I said earlier, its a great price for an entry level boat. It a good option for those looking to get into a vdrive wakeboat for a small amount money. They are not the next greatest thing.

Go with a used Nautique 210, you will be glad you did the wake is great, very reliable, great resale.

$35k will get you a really nice used boat that you'll probably never need to upgrade.

I really don't know why everyone believes warranty is so important. These boats are stone-cold reliable, and if you can change your oil in your car, you can do all your own maintenance. I would rather take care of my own stuff than hassle with taking it to the shop anyway; it saves time and gas. Not to mention having some random dumbass tech working on it.

Shawn, I picked up a 03 22SSV Supra last year with 80 hours on it for $33K in perfect condition--the deals are out there if you look long enough--I considered all different boats and the Supra gave me the most for the money and it was the newest one of the bunch--now I see alot of used Moombas for a decent dollar--SANTEs are great boats but you would have to probably go with an older one for the money--personally I would always choose a newer boat(not brand new though--I can't take the depreciation over the first few years--too depressing)Test drive and ride behind all the you are really considering. Definitely get a v-drive--that was the best upgrade that I had made and remember alot of the hulls are the same--you could get a boat for cheaper with no tower or ballast and do the upgrades yourself--good luck in your search

+1 for the supra ssv.....im biased but we got one for around 30K and its got PP, wakeplate, 2200lb ballast and throws a real nice wake(great surf wake too) just make sure you test drive whatever you get.
