Hey all what is your normal operating temp, no problems with the boat but just wondering what I should look for. Its a 335 monsoon in a Malibu VLX

ZR6 175 all day, love that closed cooling...

mine sits between 160 and 165 at idle but gets up to 190 while driving

Montgomery, your temp should not get up to 190 unless you have a closed cooling system with antifreeze and a pressurized cap. You may not have enough water flow and a slipping belt or more likely a damaged imperllor

^ yup. I changed mine out a few months ago b/c i didn't do it at beg of season. Worst looking one to date. Definitely will be replaced before we start hitting it hard next year.

07 MCX 350 with Catalytic Converters sits at 160

was 160, then installed a heater, now 140. Going to change to a hotter stat next spring to get it back up to around 160.

Al, the thermostat should be automatic, if it's working correctly. If it changed after installing the heater that's a bit weird.
Putting in a higher temp thermostat might make the air coming out of the heater a little warmer but you'll have some risks with localized boiling in the engine if it's not closed cooling.
