Hi guys,

I am going to pick up an 07 X-Star this weekend with the tandem trailer. I plan on using my F-350. I have a receiver with a 5500 lb head and 2" ball. Will this cut the mustard?

According to a 2005 spec sheet the boat weight (dry) is 4,200 lbs and the trailer weight 980 lbs.

Couldn't find the 07 specs. Is this cutting things too close?

You need MORE!! I have an F250 and sheared a ball off where the base of it goes through the hitch. I was just barely backing up a hill so I got REALLY lucky. The metal had fatigued and I just happened to be lucky enough for it to break at 2 mph. Go overkill, you can never be safe enough. Plus you need to account for fuel, ice chests and gear. They are cheap, buy a good one!!

I agree with Matt. I've been pulling an X-30 for 4 years with the same setup.

you need to make sure the ball you have uses the big shank, they have a 3/4" and a 1" shank on most balls. if you want i could pick the boat up and keep it here!?!!?!?
