nope its not sorry to argue. But 900's are still amazing in my book. They are stupid hard in and of themselves. 1080's a great but they are still wow factor tricks much like double roll ten years ago. I do think that they will become more and more common but we will have to wait like ten more years before we can say that the 1080 is the new 900.

And for the Record not every pro has a 900, most do but you would be suprised who doesnt and is making it. Most everyone has a toe 900, but every other variation is crazy hard and the crashes SUCK!

sorry i dont usually completely disagree but I got to on this one.

1080's are definitely not the new 900. Just because there have been 7,8 (or whatever the count is up to now) people who have landed them does not mean they ARE landing them consistently at all. The majority of the riders who have landed one have landed exactly that....one.

Only a few that I know of have actually landed multiple ones. Rusty (lots), Rathy, Danny. Probably more Im just not aware of. Id love to know if any of you more informed out there know if any of the other guys are hitting mulitple ones..

After the first 900 was landed, did everyone start magically landing them consistently over night?

no they didn't start magically landing them over night. But after the first one was landed it wasn't almost a decade before another was.

I agree with the statement. In 1999, less than 10 could do a 900 (plus Parks'1080)--there was a WBM article called the 900 club. Now there are less than 10 doing 1080s (plus Harf's 1260).

There is always a freak who does it years before it is due: Pikos 720 circa 1993...Shapiro 900 circa 1997...Parks 1080 1999...Harf 1260 2008. Those guys get to stand alone for a while, but it is after the second guy (or the pack) that it busts wide open.

If you are a top junior rider, the 1080 is the new 900--or at least it better be.

I would agree, the 900 is still ridiculously hard, but toe 9 is almost a stock trick now.

I have heard of a lot of rippers skipping the TS 7 to a TS 9 due to the landing being easier.

1080's are to wakeboarding as 1260's are to snowboarding: they look bad.

give me a smooth 540 or 720 with a stylish grab or tweak over spinning like a top with no style.
