Question---I have two 4 channel amps --1 powers 6 Polk DB651's in the boat and the other powers the sub(bridged) and two cans on the tower. On the 1st amp how would you cross it over? Currently I have it set to High Pass at about 115. Would it be better to run the boat speakers at full range? I dont feel like Im getting a lot of mids in the boat. FYI the amps are Clarion APX490M's and a clarion 7 band eq

Thanks

I show those 651's to handle down to 35hz! You're definitely crossing them over too high, drop it down to about 80 or so for starters to stay conservative, and make sure they're not burping on you at full volume (you've tuned the amp properly for no clipping, right?!) and then go down from there...

Best way to do it is to snag a tone producer program or test CD and play the different tones until you're happy with the low end, and cross it there. You will DEFINITELY be able to get more midrange out of those guys though. Good luck

Thsoe 651's start rolling off way before 35 hrtz. 80-100 is a good crossover point for those. 80 may even be a tad to low. Remember a cutoff point is not exact, even when yrou cutting off at 80 hrtz your speaker will still play down a tad lower.

I hate those tuning CD's. Tuning it to your ear.

Hey Adam, what's up man! Long time no see...

I agree with you totally, no way i'd send lower than 80 to them, but the reason for the tuning CD is because I can't ever get a good song to play the notes I'm trying to hear for long enough (to find the limits)...but yes, definitely after tuning with them, i re-tune to actual music, but it's all by ear for sure!

Hey Adam, what sub are you running in your 07? I just picked up the 08 22ssv and wanted to see what most people were putting in theirs..i know you've got it in the back (which is awesome, btw, and I need to see it!) but which subs are you using, and did you port or seal them?

Sorry for the hijack Jay :-)
